In lieu of the recent hardcore communities post I made I thought I put together this sweet list. Lets compile a list of the best ones Post your favs and I'll add them to the list Please don't post communities with less than 500 members. Competitive Sites Virgin Gaming | Video Game Tournaments and Online Gaming Competitions My Choice of Site is Virgin Gaming: After using Virgin Gaming for only 1 week I can already tell that this is on it’s way to revolutionizing the competitive gaming world. They have a pretty good list of games already, but word on the street is that there are MANY more coming late this year and early 2011. There’s a fair play guarantee which means NO HONOR SYSTEM – you just get the cash put in your account right after you win! Even more, the skill rating system allows you to challenge players that you know have a good gaming rep and are within your skill level or lower. This is going to be huge and I can see why it’s gaining popularity already. Good post, although: A competitive gaming site with no PC games on the list? let's be honest: a PC FPS gamer can own the ass of a console FPS gamer in seconds, and thats only considering the control advantage. Besides I really want to see them against: A-Console companies, which will either block them or deploy a better version and kill them. B-The IRS, which just like with SL won't like this unregulated bet system.
These aren't Counter Sites sites. They range from Esports coverage to general ladder sites. Plus, isn't SK Gaming a team site? Dude.... Virgin Gaming, is a Richard Branson company...They work with the console companies and were at E3. They are legally very okay. Virgin is the same group who brought us Virgin Mobile, Virgin galactic, Virgin Megastore, and Virgin Interactive.
Game companies compete with eachother, and really hate when someone else is making money off them, why not expect that if this becomes so big sony and MS will roll out versions of their own? And SL was legal too, until gambling grew so much the IRS decided it should be regulated.
Yes, SK is a gaming team site. What's the difference between that and the EG and Fnatic site you have listed? HLTV is the biggest CS site around, they deal with nothing but CS news/coverage, along with community forums.Anyone who plays competitive CS 1.6 knows about HLTV.org. GotFrag also has a pretty huge 1.6 North American community forum. They do cover things like WoW but nobody really goes to GotFrag for that. ESEA is company that hosts CS tournmanets and pay to play leagues, along with covering CS news and having a large community forum. I'm not really sure why you think they're any different than most of those other sites already listed?
Oh, I'm sorry. I guess I did neglect to even mention that. HLTV and GotFrag would probably best fit under "Hardcore Communities". ESEA should be placed under "Leagues". SK being a team should be placed into the "Teams" category. Another league to mention would be ESL. http://www.esl.eu/ They host major international tournaments for games like Counter-Strike, WoW, Quake, and I believe a few console games as well.
