So this is essentially just a handheld system with an optional docking station to provide more storage space and a TV out?

Thought experiment: You develop an infinitely fast, infinitely large memory card that can attach to your DS. Does this let you write games with console-quality graphics for it?

EDIT: you know, if all you want to do is have games that can share save files between portable and console, why not just write software for existing consoles that can do this? How about a PSP/PS3 game that writes a save file to a memory stick which you can share? Of course the complexity of the game will be limited to the capabilities of the handheld, but that comes with the territory.

This is a Main Console with an included, compatible Handheld system (extension). The Handheld is for all intensive purposes a secondary device to the main system - it allows portability\continuing your adventure of the same game. There is no specific Handheld software - both the Main Console and Handheld Extension are contained on one BR disc.

I have a very limited\hobbyist background in programming - Sony hasn't been able\chosen to do what you propose in your example of the PSP and PS3. I agree with you 100% - this should be easy. Plus, you have to buy both versions of the software in today's world. In my proposal, there would be one software release, containing both versions of the software.

Thanks for the feedback - good thoughts\ideas!
