The "that's complete BS" thread

Okay, at the end off a pretty damn good day (4 hours on the bike and in the pool, 6 hours playing games) my fucking super gun has decided to crap out on me. It could be anything, so I gotta take it in to Mak JP this week and have them look. With a little luck, it's only the harness or the cable (yeah right).

So, now that I'm in a totally negative mood, a thread that I've wanted to do for a while -- the "that's total bullshit" thread. You know, some stupid thing in the gaming world that's just complete BS. As for mine:

WTF is the point of having 2 (or 4) memory card slots, if the programmers are too lazy to have the game check them?

That may be my biggest pet peeve.

 

Mine is why they made memory cards for the x-box when 99% of the games can't even be copied to a memory card and only work from the hard drive :Hangman:

i'm suspecting the only real use for the memory card is to take your XLIVE profile with you instead of carting your Xbox around...

Memory cards were being sold way before x-box live and why the hell would they make 8 meg memory card for a single live profile.
Devolpers are just a bunch of lazy ass whores for not putting in memory card support, now i can't exchange savegames and highscores with my friends and i bought my memory card for nothing. :Hangman:

 

I remember buying my Xbox, and the guy at the store actually telling me (my wife actually, as I had to work) something useful. "You don't need the memory card."

C'mon -- somebody has to have some non-memory card related BS.

i use that X-Mega USB memory stick thing to d/l and u/l save file from/to my Xbox. it's one of the things I pre-ordered thru lik-sang and forgot about till it turned up at my door step...

pretty handy although the program is bit picky on WinXP...

I agree the support for the memory card should be mandatary like any other consoles... just because it has the HDD doesn't mean there's no need for the memory card...

I went to a friends house to join in a Smash Bros Tourney...afterwards we played double dash. I was outracing everybody...

...except when the end of the race would come I would get hit by a bastard blue shell every time. Ain't nothing cool about 3 firsts and five seconds when it should have been 7 or 8 solid wins...and then I had to listen to the gloating.

Sony hyping up the PS3 saying its a supercomputer. The fact is, its PS2 + antialiasing + built-in ethernet port and just a faster CPU which is f***ing hard to develop for again.

BS3:
Nintendo wanting other developers to make 'innovative' games. However they go ahead and re-release craploads of NES games onto GBA. WTF, are they bringing back their old games that were innovative back then and passing them off as innovative?? I'm dissapointed, hurry up and die after this console war which will surely happen even if the DS and GBA2 succeeds.

You can't say that Sony hyping the PS3 wasn't expected. Didn't the CEO of SCEA Japan say that the PS2 would be like being submerged in the Matrix, just months before it's release? Now I didn't say that if you were stupid enough to believe such bullshit you deserved to get your money taken, but that's an EXTREMELY bold statement, even in advertising.

 

I've just been playing Revenge of Shinobi on Mega CD as I got it working yesterday. Level 2, the shadow boss. Every time we collide in mid air or when he lands close to me I lose health, even though he is not attacking me -_- It is the same for every enemy, it's total BS!

yes , sony is great when comming to makes comercials :smt043 but wasn't it a comercial that said : on ps5 , no controller will be needed , you will inale bubbles that will bring you to you personnal wolrd , where everything is possible , where you wil fight dragons , meet people , ect.... and a the end they said : future is closer than you think (or something else...) . its was only a stupid add. but cool! :smt040


anyway , remember , a few months ago , when sony said that psp will be close to ps2 , no one was tinking it was possible , but ,ey , i don't belive my eyes when i view gt4 running on psp! not bad for a portable.

 

Didn't all the PSP images released say "screen images simulated" at the top?? if they did then that can join this thread really,it's like showing a picture of a NES plugged into a TV with doom3 on the screen and a small disclaimer in the top saying that the images are simulated.

 

No actual games were running on the PSP it was all a bunch of running demo's running from a pc setup, no no actual PSP show of power.

 

Actually, I'm not sure about Gran Turismo 4, but I'm thinking that all the other games shown at E3 were indeed running on the PSP hardware. I do think GT4 was simulated, tho.

I'll add another one, the eternal bullshit about nintendo being "kiddy" it's utter crap games like metroid prime proof that the nintendo platform isn't kiddy.

And since when is a game that has no blood,gore shooting etc in it uncool and kiddy, it's all about the gameplay and not the super realitic high defenition blood splatters on your screen, but try telling that to the brain washed masses that think gaming means PS2

( sorry about this rant but i'm pretty pissed after having a conversation with a total numbnuts who thinks PS2 is tha r0x0r and the cube is only for 8 year olds and that the only "great" game in the world is GTA3 VC because you can go arround killing people ).

 

The Emotion Engine. The very first official info about the PS2. Some guy working for Sony went into great length to explain that it was a new kind of technology that would simulate real life and change the way games are "experienced".

I was stupid enough to believe that sony found some way to surpase even what PCs were capable of.

Then PS2 comes out and it is exaclty the same as PS just a little better!

I completely agree with silverbolts point and even moreso, as whilst games like metroid prime proove that nintendo don't only make kiddy games, what the hell is wrong with a game that has cartoony characters in it (e.g. Mario, Zelda)?? As long as it's a good gam, which i feel practically every in-house nintendo game is, whats the problem? Really annoys me, as many of my friends only end up playing either FPS's or GTAs/The getaway and refuse to play anything like mario or zelda, which are fantastic games but would hurt theior street cred if they did. Utter BS. If a game's fun go play it.
