    "Radiant Silvergun 2"

Both great games made by Treasure, excellent examples of Grade A shmups but only actually related if you make the connection for yourself.

    Thanks for that info Evo.

  8. Ikaruga, as Divine Evolution said, is not technically a sequel to Radiant Silvergun, at least as far as gameplay goes. However, the connection can be easily made in their storylines - the end boss of Radiant Silvergun is The Stone-Like, and once it is destroyed, it falls to Earth. In Ikaruga, presumably many many years into the future, Horai Tenro finds a glowing yellow diamond with the power of the gods - The Stone Like from RSG. Of course, the circumstances on finding it are totally different - no huge explosion wiping out humanity, etc. It's a bit of a stretch, but one can see how the games could be connected, however, it's more likely that this was just a 'cameo' appearance, if you will, of an enemy that should be well-known to diehard Treasure fans.

Anyways, get Ikaruga, it's the cat's pajamas.

Before the arcade game was released (this was probably 2002 sometime) it said on the arcade website "This is the sequel to Radiant Silvergun" in plain Japanese. The took it down at one point. NOt sure what that means, but it was there at one point.
