Now I would love to play Gran Turismo like that! :icon_bigg There was another vid similar to this, but the unit was rather bulky. I can't find the source, and the watermark links to a totaly unrelated page. Thanks for the link!
Why? It's supposed to simulate a car, and last I checked, when I move in my car my windscreen comes with me. Wherever your driving position is the screen should always be directly in front of you.
oh my god, now i want one see the information below on that monster! btw: nice to see another german here hello eken, introduce yourself in the introducing thread!!
A friend of mine got the DFP wheel, then bought a seat from a crashed Audi S3, got some iron tubes and solder everything. He made a kind of table for the DSP, so he connects it and voilá, a drivers seat. Nothing extreme like the one on the video, but it works.
Yep, but to be a convincing simulator the game should be "making the street move". A windscreen is always in front of you, no matter what is outside of it - if the game doesn't show what it should be then thats the games fault not the design of ther chair
Someone should just go "All out" and make replace the windshield of a real car with a similar sized tv of that of a windshield, and add all the physics junk you can to make it feel real. Maybe even put airbags to deploy every time you crash. It could be a safer way of teaching people to drive, maybe.
Heck, if airline pilots can use flight simulators to learn how to fly that move and jolt (similar technlogy is used in many amusment park simulator rides), why not build one for cars/driving Make it a cross between a Ridge Racer Full Size arcade machine and one of the things in that video. Make the car move hydraulically along with changing screens (and fully functioning dials etc)
I still don't understand why simulators are only using a single screen. If you are going to go so far as to give (restricted) 6-DOF motion, then adding a couple of screens for peripheral vision is relatively easy. For a machine like this, another $1000 to the cost is nothing.
Wasn't Sega's Hard Drivin' supposed to be a sim to help with driving lessons, till they turned it into an arcade game?
Pretty awesome But this guy doesn`t have a clue http://youtube.com/watch?v=wD8sEWD3B_0&search=videogame%20simulator%20racing%20driving%20intense%20racecar I must admit I went on a Ferrari F1 Simulator a few years ago....like those flight and bob sleigh rides HOLY FUCK!!!! If this as I expect was anywhere near what those guys take when driving then Schumacher deserves every penny he gets
I remember seeing a video like the one Kevin posted, it was the same guy except he flipped his car. He got his ASS handed to him by the chair. It was scary:lol:
