I got a phonecall today from a unhappy ebayer. Apperantly, her son opened the box that I shipped the item in, and the item was gone (A GBA:SP). Now, I don't know if the mother is trying to scam me, or something really did happen. Reguardless, this is a huge issue. Edit: Aw crap, posted this on the wrong forum...
I don't know, both could have happened. I did get a huge "Lady trying to scam me and make a big fuss" vibe while reading your post, though... But then again, that's not even remotely close enough to evidence to begin judging. Um... I say call her or have her call you and tell you the details, then reporting this to the authorities, and having her do the same after you work some sort of deal. If she's absolutely unwilling to cooperate, or becomes deffensive and agressive, that will be suspicious. You'll have to use a lot of your judgement, though. Boy, is this really a bad issue or what...
With the mail, theres no telling where it will be. Im surprised and shocked that some of the things I ordered from WD arrived in the mail and didnt get stolen. I would think taking mail would be relatively easy to do, too. I guess they dont want to risk jail by opening a box to see a bowling ball or something instead of a tv...
reminds me of a mail man we had that would read are magazines while parked in front of our box, in fact there were time i would get an egm that was already ripped open from its plastic bag, damn bastards.
She actually sounded very calm, although she called a second time, and her son called a third time (Since she bought it for him). Already sent them 2 emails and asked them to respond (Don't like talking over the phone with Ebay issues, though. Last time I had to talk to a ebay customer because of a delay, she threatened to sue me and told me she was recording the conversation). Anyway, the only thing I can think of is to refund 1/2 of the payment if we can't solve this.
Well, I just contacted the son via phone. Apperantly, someone tampered with it (tore the package open, took the GBA out, and sealed it back up with tape). Thing is, I sent it via UPS. Damn, this pisses me off.
If you sent it UPS instead of USPS, you should be automatically covered up to $100. I would start calling UPS and begin "ripping them a new one". :angry
Well, now we know what happened. You need the receipt they gave you when you sent the package, and the lady's information. You go to the office with the receipt and tell then all that has happened, and you demand that they either pay you the price or get ready for you to sue their ass off. Do not look hysterical - look VERY calm but very serious. Talk to a manager and tell the lady to do the same. Neither you nor your customer has to take shit from a larger enterprise - so if they deny the employee's responsibility, we'll make a stink about this. Nothing hurts a corporate entity more than bad publicity.
Yeah, UPS is insured so you should be able to file a claim with no problem. Best part is they'll trace the pakage back to the guy who stole it and fire his ass. Everybody wins.
Blimey I thought it was only us Brit's that suffered from dubious postal 'service'... ...Channel 4 (U.K T.V channel) did an expose on Royal Mail scams last year and followed it up again this year, it was truly shocking
Where did you ship it to? Because some places have a high chance of having mail being broken into. It is a federal offense and they should notify their local post office.
