First, I would like to start off by saying... I hate bugs. They are the worst creatures in the world, and some of them are just downright scary. Which brings me to my point. Each summer, here in Arkansas we fight a never ending battle against these idiotic pests, and it seems that this year they are even worse than ever. The biggest pain has to be the ants, but there are several others as well. We have all kinds of different chemicals in the garage that are supposed to "Get rid of pests for good!", but that is a big LIE. My favorite weapon in the "War against insects" has to be Raid ant and roach killer. Trust me when I say it works on just about everything, not just ants and roaches. This weapon, however, is only useful for small battles, and we have to get large amounts of various chemicals to cover every part of our yard... chemicals that are extremely dangerous. Anyway, today I probably fought the fiercest battle ever in our "War against insects". You see, today I went outside to work on my car. I noticed some wasps buzzing around it, and started to proceed with caution. If there is one type of insect I hate the most, it is the flying and stinging type, and there were tons of them flying around my vehicle. I got to my car and noticed they had made a nest under my rear bumper. Great. So, I go back to the garage to get my trusty Raid, and I prepared for the battle of a lifetime. I started out by spraying the nest... not a good idea because before I knew it, what seemed like millions of wasps started flying right for me. I was trembling with fear, but I stood my ground and started spraying the Raid in every direction, causing most of them to fall to the ground. I immediately started stomping the ones that had fallen to the ground, to bits. Some of them got away, but I wasn't worried about them. I focused my attention on my car once more. This time, I started kicking the bumper. Once again, bad idea. A second swarm of wasps flew out and made their way toward me. Raid in hand; I took them on one by one, dodging any attempts at a sting. Right as if finished of the second "fleet", the survivors of the first attack were coming back, and they were extremely mad. The battle continued as I started spraying and stomping the wasps. The entire battle lasted about 30 minutes, and even though there were some close calls, I didn't once get stung... I just hope I finished them off. Now, I’m off the cover my yard in dangerous chemicals :smt042

    re

    Great story! :smt042

That reminds me of summer camp three years ago.... Our tent (me and my friend's) was home to a family of huge spiders. After spraying the everliving crap out of them, we proceeded to slapping spiders and ants off throughout the night. Worst.Summer.Ever. :smt067 :smt071

    :smt043 great story ,AWS.

the best way to make kill ants is to introduce liquid bubble soap in their holes , here's my little story. :-D

when i was kid i loved to kill ants , they where my worst enmey , i loved to use torture and kill them one by one and laughing like bad guys in movies ( muahahaha :smt042 ). one day , my sister took all my looney tunes stickers and stick them on is desk. i was really upset and whanted revenge.... so i've took is liquid bubble soap that she loved (she was always playing with this) and said to myself that i could kill two bird with one rock! i was planing to use all is bubble soap and try to kill ants with it. ( i was a genius! :-D ). i've tryed to enter ants in a bubble so they would fly high in the sky and be killed by planes (that was a cool plan! :smt045 ) but like everyone know , it didn't succed...

they flew away for a moment , just before to be eated by my dog (he eat everything :smt043 ). i thought my dog would be barking bubbles so i've stoped to do this.... ( :-D )

my plan was on the edge of the failure. i needed revenge and deaths (muaahahah :smt042 ) so i've tried to enter the liquid into the ants holes. somes tried to exit their houses but they couldn't , they where sticking in the bubbling liquid. i've watched them , slowly killing their selves by trying to survive (that's hirony! ) . 2 hours later, they where all dead, submerged by the killing and sticking liquid . since this, i've never saw any enemies entering or exiting the holes, blocked by my sister's precious hobby. two bird , one rock . i was so happy , revenge was done, i felt victorious and terribly inteligent. ahh... the good ol' days. :smt083 :-D :-D

now i still use liquid bubble soap to kill them , because it really work! :-D

Thanks for all the comments, and nice story cahaz. If there is one thing I can't stand, it's bugs. I have no fear of snakes, which we have a lot of around here, but I just can't handle the bugs.

BTW, I will have to try that bubble soap some time... it sounds very interesting :-D Better than messing with those dangerous chemicals. You have to have a license just to buy some of them.

And as fellow "soldiers" know, the "War against insects" may never end. So, I hope you all remain safe during your battles, and always keep a can of Raid handy. Oh, and never use a can of compressed air and a lighter, because under certain circumstances it may be flammable :smt042

All of our lives, we have fought this war. Tonight I believe we can end it. Tonight is not an accident. There are no accidents. This is a war and we are soldiers. Death can come for us at any time, in any place. What if tomorrow the war could be over? Isn't that worth fighting for? Isn't that worth dieing for?

  8. Ah, yet another valiant warrior in the neverending fight against the insect world. I salute you for your bravery, soldier, and am overjoyed to hear you suffered no casualties in your war with the wasps. Though the way you described it, it sounded like you were in your own little sh'mup. "Destroy them all!" :smt043

Thankfully the weather is starting to get a little bit colder and the crane flies have disappeared, however, they have now been replaced by tiny sugar ants that insist on making their little trails from the kitchen window (always open to ward off bad smells) to the garbage can on the other end of the kitchen. What most odd is that the apartment is on the second story of this building - the little bastards are hiking a long ways!! It has since become a nightly ritual to blanket the kitchen in a fog of Raid, remembering to wash all dishes five times before eating off of them and not keeping any food outside of cupboards or the fridge... :angry :smt067

It's always an honor to be saluted by a bug fighting champion. :smt042

Really, because that is kind of what I was going for. What's strange is that even though I was facing an insurmountable foe... it was almost fun. :-D

Ah, yes. Winter, the temporary cease fire in the "War against insects". The best time of year in my opinion

Raid, clearly one of the best weapons for fighting insects ever made. We have a similar problem with ants getting in our house and making their way to our garbage can. Ants may not be as dangerous as wasps, but they are ten times more annoying.

Your words have truly moved me :smt042

I have a little update on the "War against insects" that I am currently in. Today, we got two new kinds of poisons. These poisons are the "Perimeter Defense" type. You apply them around your house, and they are supposed to kill any insects that try to enter, and lately we have been having a problem with ants getting in our house. So, we laid down these poisons, and we are hoping for the best.

Now, as for the wasps.... I think I pretty much finished them off the other day. I went out to my car again today, and I kicked the bumper. Nothing, so I kicked it again... still nothing. Hoping I was done with them, I sprayed under the bumper with my trusty Raid, and before I knew it.... two wasps came out. TWO?!? I almost burst into laughter. I mean, after the literal ARMY of wasps that attacked me last time, this was hilarious. So I killed them pretty quickly. I started to kick my bumper really hard again just to make sure I got them all, and another on came out. Oh, big deal. However it got away.

The liquid bubble soap is good for individual mounds, but the poison we used went all around our house to keep out any insects. The ants have been our biggest problem though.

  15. Just make sure you don't kick your bumper off!! :smt043

I've been under siege this past few weeks with larger than average house spiders. Usually we get invaded by spiders roughly 1" in diameter, but this past few weeks we have been invaded by "3 - "5 spiders! My dog is having fun hunting them ... but they say you swallow 8 spiders in your life and I really don't wanna be swallowing 1 of these mofos!
