http://www.compfused.com/directlink/4379/ A family vacation turns into a nightmare when a Disney employee dressed as Tigger allegedly punches a teenager in the face. I'd like to make some sarky comment about this, but frankly I suspect the family might consider suing me for damaging their feelings.
It doesn't look like a punch to me. We was falling and "Tigger" tried to stop him from falling or something.
America: Tigger gives a small punch with his soft glove to a kid who was trying to destroy his dress. The family sues Tigger and gets national media attention. They show the soft punch but everyone thinks Tigger is a criminal. Stop. Italy: Tigger gives a small punch with his soft glove to a kid who was trying to destroy his dress. The family takes the kid and start spanking him. Then excuses themself with Tigger. One week later, the poor boy who was inside Tiger receives a letter from a lawyer. He is sued and the family asks money. In some way nobody knows, the family gets media attention. They don't show the video but starts complaining about violence in luna parks. For one month, every news talks about episodes of violence regarding toon-dressed people. Suddenly the boy wins against the family. Everything stops. It's time to go against something other. If no other argument is found, then they'll speak about videogames and violence.
This happens all the time. Family suing disney for stupid things that were taken the wrong way. Disney brings it unto itself with its Nazi-esque policy on being as perfect as possible. The guy in the suit accidently knocked him on the head, he probably didn't see the kid. The third time I hear something bad the tigger character has done. About a couple years ago a family was suing of the cast members who worked as tigger for molesting their child. The family didn't win the case.
well at least tigger didn't try to bone the kid. Besides, the guy in the costume is an someone who's doing his job. Why the hell would he bother with some little kid if that kid didn't say anything about his mom?
From what I heard of this case the kid was pulling on the back of his costume and cutting off his air supply.
Is there such thing as a first world country where things like this don't happen? I can find some light in most situations that occur here in America. But this is retarded. If there was a bill on strict tort reform introduced tommorow, I would vote on yes on it. Peoples greed never ceases to amaze me, and if I could find a sensible country where stuff like this didn't happen, I would be happy to live out my days there.
Once in a while somebody tries to sue Disney for stuff like this, and they always lose becasue the actor inside the suit can't see what he is doing. Thus the excuse "I was trying to pat him on the head" or something always wins. In a related note one time Mickey Fucking Mouse boxed me on the ears when I was like 7. My parents thought I was crying becasue I was afraid of Mickey. I know that s.o.b. did that on purpose. I guess we should have sued.
Well, I'd hate to say, but America's definitely way ahead of Europe in this department. Such things happen in Holland as well, but damage payments rarely exceed 1 million euros, they're often around the few thousand mark. And we don't have ridiculous warning labels everywhere.
Most people fall over themselves at any opportunity to make a few free bucks, let alone this much cash. Reminds me of the parents who sent their kid to Neverland Ranch despite knowing Jackson's reputation and then sued him for as much as they could. Sod their child's wellbeing, there's money to be made!
