i would say the people who buy those rares games which are so boring gameplay-wise. i dont have much example to say , but imagine the rare games on retro consoles, so rare yet so boring in gameplay .

Come on man, little Samson is a thousand dollar experience you can't pass up. Actually the game is mediocre.

    Amiga CD32...

Bought it on release and it was hands down the worst piece of crap console game wise that I ever owned. Didn't enjoy a single game on this piece of shit. The funniest thing to see nowadays, is that this console has gotten so expensive! Feeling sorry for whoever buys one.

I did own a CDI player at some point in time, however I got it for free so it doesn't count as the worst gaming wise money spent.

Another waste of money with huge expectations that ended up being a turd would be Kasumi Ninja for the Atari Jaguar.

Buying the Sega Mega CD on launch day, £270 whilst on the low wages.
Due to promo video given away with Mean Machines Magazine.

Buying the Atari Jaguar on launch day £229? Based on part, due to GamesMaster Magazine preview of Freelancer 2120 on Jaguar CD..

Turns out screens were from high end PC version

    Advertising clearly works..

Advertising worked like a charm for a kid in the 80/90ties, it was all about bits and the pre-rendered screens game magazines would show before a game was released. The company ad's themselves would be screaming at you how amazing the game will be.

The only thing that saved the Jaguar for me, after spending a shitload on importing one from the US including a US TV !!! was Aliens vs Predator, which I really enjoyed at the time. No other Jaguar game did it for me, as I was not into tempest (didnt see why I should play a game looking like shit on "64"-freakin'-bits) and most other games I had on other consoles anyway, so nothing special.

Looking back I really do hate the Jaguar, after spending that shitload of cash and finding out it was shit I: accidentally dropped a can of cola on the US TV, that I bought especially for the Jag and it broke. On top of it all "sold" the Jaguar to some guy that decided not to pay me for it.

The Sega CD however, while not the greatest console, i adored at the time. Not sure why as when I look at the games now, especially the ugly stamp sized FMV, I wonder what I liked so much about it back then.

:) I was so easily taken in by video footage back then, along with game previews....

The Jaguar, looking back, i just about got enough VFM from..Doom, Iron Soldier, AVP, Rayman+Tempest 2000 the stand out titles, with Syndicate being best 16 bit port i played, but then i didn't buy the bloody thing for 16 bit ports.

Mega CD impressed me more, in terms of a leap over what i was used too..Final fight, Terminator SE, Battlecorps, 3D sections of Batman Returns, Dune, Terminator S.E, but then i hated Snatcher and sonic CD.

Niether was a device i should of bought until they were commercially dead, as i would of still enjoyed the games, but paid a lot less for the experience.

I'm not of the mindset we only saw a fraction of the Jaguar's true 3D power, it was outdated in that area within months...3DO offering better texture mapping etc as was, so many of it's unreleased titles were better off unreleased, but i would of liked to of seen Conan fully developed and Rebellion's Legions Of The Undead as well, but other than that and Black ice, White Noise moved to PS1/Saturn and fully developed, there are so few titles that gave me any hope.

I used to love Ground Zero texas on MCD-would probably hate it if i tried it now mind.

One of my worst purchases was Metroid: Other M. I pre-ordered it and got the limited edition; I was looking forward to it. I was really disappointed by it, and ended up selling it very soon after I bought it. Another bad purchase was Sonic Rush Adventure. I think I bought this game new. I liked Sonic Rush, so I thought Sonic Rush Adventure would be good too - wrong. It's garbage. I still have it for some reason.
