Sony Watchmans, VCRs and car stereos with embedded micro TVs: Panasonic CT-101: Most of these screens are black-and-white which is a novelty of it's own.. but the CT-101 listed above is a great example of an ultraportable color CRT. Imagine modding one of these ultraportables: calibrating it, re-adjusting it's geometry, adding RGB, a modular DTV tuner, and rich 2-channel stereo. The effort would be somewhere between insane and impossible, but it's a fun idea to think about. Any thoughts?
My dad used to have a small portable Sony TV. It was an FD-10, I think. It was black and white only. I think he still has it somewhere. I also have a much later portable Sony TV, but it has an LCD instead of a CRT. It has a clamshell design and a shade for the screen to reduce glare. I don't know the model number.
I have a very small color TV... kinda... I think 4 or 5 inches. It works and I tested it. But it is inside of a VCP. I was not able to find much about it online, but a similar system you can find on ebay is the Citizen VCP-5MU. I think I wouldn't want to bother messing with mine, as I feel it is a unique piece of history that I'd prefer stay the way it is.
I have a tiny color CRT too, like 4 or 5 inches. It is surprisingly long though. I cant remember If I even tried to fire it up. Another of my dumpster diving acquisition...
Ha, I used to have something very similar to that VCP when I was a kid (mostly used it for watching old cartoons: Rocky and Bullwinkle, Dudley Do Right, Looney Tunes, and what have you). Can't remember the name anymore.. it had a grey/silver coat and a handlebar that made it look like a briefcase or a boombox. Yet oddly safer than texting and driving. This was also from back in the days when drinking and driving was a casual, commonplace thing. How far we've come since then. Now it's all about driving with your knees to take instagram selfies so you can hashtag about Starbucks and how you never use turn signals. (we need aliens to show up more and more everyday) ...Anyway. la-li-lu-le-lo, a friend of mine had an early 80s Watchman back when it was still capable of picking up TV signals but we could never get anything aside from fuzz. Maybe it was the area. I still want to see one working. MaxWar: There's something like that sitting at a thrift shop in my area.. I've been tempted to get it.. Mostly because it's $3.
I remember soon after the Wii launch. Someone posted a doll house with a tiny TV. And the Wiimote worked very well. Don't know if it was posted here, tough...
I added video jacks to my Commodore SX-64. Back then laughable to watch a movie on a five inch color CRT screen, but just something to try; and no I do not watch movies on the phone.
Is that ford mustang radio? I seen plenty of old 'stangs before and never ever seen one with a TV built-in
Here is the same exact head unit but with a different manufacturer label. Interestingly enough, there is one special, magical port on this receiver that would allow you to hook up a pre HDMI-only game console. Call of Duty may have never looked so good.
