    Just a hunch....

The S models were either given or sold to magazine/game reviewers. Everyone knows that the normal TEST station has 64Mb RAM (double the amount of a retail PS2) but what about the "s" model???

This console may not have 64Mb of RAM. Does anyone know for sure. The additional RAM on a TEST station aids the debug process but an "s" model debug station is designed soley for playing games on. Would make sense as to why it has PS2 on the cover and not TEST - the machines aren't used for testing stuff on.

Linux doesn't recognise the extra RAM on a TEST station (why the heck not!!) so I guess if anyone has a "S" model and wants to crack it open I wonder how much RAM they actually have.......

Anyone agree with my little hunch or am I talking totally out of my rear passage?

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Sorry, you're talking out of your rear on this one. ;)

So "S" ones do have the same amount of RAM then?

Oh well - worth a try!
