I could just make this short and say Go Play Mega Man X6. X6 Sucks doesn't it. X6 was made without input from Keiji Inafune. X7 and X8 as well.
It's my theory that there hasn't been a new Mega Man Game since Keiji Inafune left because Capcom just doesn't know what to do with Mega Man.
They know it'll make them money but they want to get it right.

Then again, fear of making a half assed game hasn't stopped them from Doing Street Fighter X Tekken and the last 4 or 5 Resident Evils (Spin offs included)
But that's just my idea as to why. Once they figure out what direction they want to go in. We might hear something.

Seeing Ducktales and Castle of Illusion being remastered, i can't stop thinking about a "new' Megaman.

Same thing is valid for Metal Slug, Alex Kidd, Gunstar Heroes, Double Dragon, Final Fight,... With the whole indie scene becoming so important, i don't understand why companies with amazing franchises don't bring them back.

We did get Double Dragon Neon. But yeah all those games you listed need HD Sequels. Hopefully Capcom gets Way Forward to do a new Mega Man.

Mega Man 9 and 10 should have been what Duck Tales Remastered was. Hopefully a theoretical Mega man 11 would use that HD Duck Tales style and I AM LOVING Duck Tales Remastered. The Himalayas have me all stuck though right now.

What they need to do is make Megaman X9 but do it with the same 16 bit graphics used in the three SNES titles, scrap every character besides X and Zero, & have some rocking tunes.

Because not bringing them back is better than totally fucking it up.

GoH, why exactly do those games "need" HD remakes? Metal Slug certainly doesn't. It already looks fantastic on the NeoGeo. Final Fight? What's wrong with it? Duck Tales, I can kind of understand wanting some upgrades on the graphics and music. But we don't really need any half assed HD versions of anything. Complete remakes, maybe. Mega Man Power Up, Super Mario All-Stars, Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles, Mega Man The Wily Wars. Those were all cool remake/remaster/enhanced rereleases.

Something actually new and good would be preferable. I enjoyed Mega Man 9. Anything like that would be interesting.

Not nessessarily remakes but HD 2D sequels.

Storywise.... X should be done. unless they Retcon x6-x7 to have never gone down and made a game about the Elf Wars that the Zero Series talks about but never shows.

Am I seriously the only person who hated Ducktales Remastered and felt they fucked it up?

Yes you are. I LOVE Duck Tales Remastered. Every second of it. Aside from 1 change the amazon the level layouts are the same. It's still hard until you memorize the levels. The Music is amazing and the Boss fights are among the best in any 2d platformer.

wait what? No dude they changed more than Amazon.

Amazon has you back tracking through some BS part of the level that is a PITA. Himalaya's makes you back track all over to find those stupid parts of the plane. Transylvania has WAY more parts to it. The moon adds more backtracking and once you get underground it's different.

The boss battle changes are tedious. 12+ hits for the amazon boss? You're kidding me.

The game doesn't remember where you've been so you have to hit esc and then click "skip cinematic" EVERY TIME.

Every level has been changed - and not for the better. And for some reason my new gaming rig that gets 120FPS on Battlefield 3 lags during the final boss battle (but not the rest of the game). I'm not sure WTF is up with that.

Is it a novel attempt? Yeah. Could have been better - and I enjoyed MM9 and MM10 more than it. I preferred the MM9 treatment over this.

I would love to see new Mega Man X titles in the SNES style. About 6 or 7 months ago I started playing X, X2, and X3 and beat all of them several times over and over again over the course of a few weeks; I really wanted more and fired up X4 and X5 and just didn't enjoy them.

I did love MM9 and MM10 as well.

X6 was ok. X7 was mediocre but still playable and X8 was actually good IMO.

Even though,I do agree I think the X series SHOULD have ended story wise of the current arc at X5, then Inafune wouldn't have to have messed with his original plans for MMZero.

Guess not, but Gamespot is a bunch of assclowns anyway.

Mega Man X5 is a awful game also, even Capcom admitted they shouldn't have made X5 & X6.

The big problem with Megaman is Capcom Europe dislike the character and didn't bother to market or advertise any of the games. This has resulted in European sales being destored, hell they haven't even released Megaman X on Wii U in Europe yet. All we can do is complain to them over twitter right now about it.

Combine with the fact that the more recent X games have been rubbish and they over milked the EXE games, this has also badly reduced the quality of the MM games in many peoples eye. I also found 9 and 10 took the original megaman series badwards quite heavily compared to Megaman 8 & Megaman and Brass.

All in all Capcom put Megaman themselves down a hole and I think they'll need a very special game to get him out of it.

If it was up to me, I'd do a third person platform game add in co-op mutiplayer on the single player with Axel and Zero. Then have Megaman put a end to the Maverick War once and for all, as Sigma is getting tired and they need to finally get Zero to meet the ghost of Dr Wily and put him to rest. Be nice if they cured Sigma and the rest of the Mavericks of the Wily Virus at the same time.

Would need to be bright and colourful graphics like the old SNES games but they could do some stunning set pieces now. Smashing through the insides of a giant robot, having a speeder bike section with a robot tearing the motorway apart as you drive along it, onboard a massive sky ship knocking robot off into the city below. An Underwater base were you can see the sea above you and all the marina life around it etc.. etc.. along with plenty of blasting and slashing action.

Indeed when you think what makes a good Megaman games, it makes you wonder if Capcom are good enough these days to release a high quality product of that scale?

X5 was an amazing game. I don't agree with that at all.

Rockman.EXE, they made like what, 6 games? Then they stopped. (Other than the RM.EXE 1 DS port) and made the Shooting star series and it wasn't as popular, so they stopped.

But I do agree that MM9 and 10 took the series backwards in many ways after MM8 and MM&B (Which are two of my favorite in the series and had the perfect graphical art style for the series. Especially after everyone bitched and moaned that the series was too samey post MM3. Ironic considering after MM7 they cried "They changed it, now it sucks!" and whined until they went back to being samey and even removing features in MM9 and 10.
    Don't get me wrong though, I love MM9 and 10. )

Inafune had little to no input with X5 either according to the Complete works books He just told them "Finish the series" and Went off to do his own thing.

Mega Man is my favorite series, and this is pretty much my opinion now. I love what Nintendo/NamcoBandai are doing with the Blue Bomber in Super Smash Bros. though.

Yeah, X8 was good! I think people were too turned off by X6 and X7 to even give it a chance.

Yeah, Mega Man's sprite was perfect in those (and Wily Wars). I do hope if Capcom has Wayforward make a Mega Man game, they look to these as inspiration.
