Well went to keving smiths site today www.viewaskew.com and it turns out that they are making a real sequal to clerks( this is not the clerks cartoon movie they've been planing, but an actual sequal to the movie). It's baisicly going to be about dante and randal 10 years later, and is going to be mostly the main cast. Also smith is going to return back to the low budget raunchy humor style, for more details go to his site for info he posted about it. It going to be titled "Passion of the clerks". Can you belive it was inspired by him making the clerks 10th aniversary dvd?

  2. I nearly wet myself when I read the original news, I can't wait for the release. Hopefully the critics will show it a bit more love than they did Jersey Girl, but then again, they also hated Mallrats, so... And apparently the film is going to be both in black and white as well as color, so it will still retain the old Clerks feel. :-D

In further Kevin Smith news, I'm really disappointed that Clerks X and Jersey Girl are being released on the same day - I can only afford one of them!! :smt022

Well greatsaintloius if you are a true fan i highly reccomedn getting clerks x, as jersey girl is a bit of a small feature disk, plus it will probably evetually go down in price tremendously.

  4. See the thing is, I already own Clerks on DVD, so it's not like I'll be going without - the extras are damned cool for sure, but it's not a must have, whereas I tremendously enjoyed Jersey Girl in theatres and would love to give it another go.

Time will tell, I suppose, although with such a reasonable price put on the Clerks X set (~$32) I might be able to bargain hunt and get both - maybe a trip to Costco or something.

    Well where you been..?

  11. The store featured in Clerks is a five minute walk from my grandmother's house. Another two minutes away is where I went to elementary school. My mother worked in the video store while she was working on a second degree, when Kevin Smith was filming the movie.

Jay and Silent Bob return. Thank God. They will be in the movie, right?

They better, or I am going to kill Kevin Smith.

    :-D

Lol, the my little cousin know a kid that strarted to use drug at the age of 8, and tried to stop at the age of 11.... talk about kids! but the strangest thin is that they made thing that they weren't suposed to do, but they are less mature ( i talk about majority here, not every kids) than us when we had the same age... Uh.?

  17. Jay and Silent Bob will be returning, although Smith has stated that they will have screen time similar to the first Clerks, i.e. not a spotlight like in Mallrats or Strike Back - the reason for this is that the focus of the new film, like the first, is going to be more on Dante and Randall.

I do hope that Olaf makes a comeback though - "My love for you is like a truck BERSERKER!!!" :smt043

Clerks was the first film by now cult filmmaker Kevin Smith. It was a super-low budget black and white film set in an adjoining convenience store/video rental store in Red Bank, New Jersey, and was all about the antics and dialogue of two clerks, Dante Hicks and Randall (can't remember the last name). The duo constantly butt heads and exchange witty dialogue on such varied topics as which was the better Star Wars movie (Empire or Jedi), dealing with a girlfriends rather promiscuous past, and why prices in most stores always end in .99. Think an earlier Tarantino film without the gangster influence and you'd be fairly close. Clerks is the first movie in the "Jersey Trilogy" spanning Clerks, Mallrats, and Chasing Amy. Each movie features completely different characters and locations but is tied together by the inclusion of Jay And Silent Bob, two hilarious dope dealers that nevertheless seem to have wise advice at the right time, and by a slew of references that you'd have to watch each movie twice to fully get. Other Smith movies are Dogma, Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back, and Jersey Girl, and all but the latter continue to feature characters and inside jokes from each of the other films.

And hey, if you can make me a good trade offer, I can snag a copy of Clerks for you so you can experience the magic for the very first time! :-D

Never Saw Jersey girl, was it any good?

Seems like movies nowadays are in the theaters for a very short time, like a few weeks and then straight to DVD. Anyone remember when a movie would come out and actually stay in theaters the whole season?

  19. It depends. If you go to watch it expecting it to be another Chasing Amy or whatever (as did most of the fans and all of the critics) you probably won't like it. However, if you go in with no prior expectations other than it being a more matured but still intelligent and humorous Kevin Smith movie, you'll find it rather enjoyable - I certainly liked it. It's out on DVD September 7th, why not give it a rent and see how it stacks up?
