When should the thermal pads be replaced on the Dreamcast? Like for the cpu and gpu. What thickness and brand do you use?
Same problem here, just opened the console to clean it and noticed that thermal pads are totally worn out.
Technically, thermal pads are "single use" and should be replaced every time they are disturbed. Practically, if they're clean, intact, and soft, they're fine. I think they're all right under 1mm.
