I'm going to need some of those thick Jewel Cases as some of my Japanese Dreamcast jewel cases have seen better days. Anybody know where I can get some?
Nowhere. Buy the cheap games that used these medium cases as replacements. The same applies to the about 60 games on the Saturn with medium-style CD-cases.
I need some of these too. About 50 of them What I do is buy a bulk load of shitty Super Robot war games for the cases but to be honest, I want real ones. I can get brand new cases of normal (in any colour) and double cases but not these slightly thicker ones. Yakumo
I realized I needed them today when I was keeling on my copy of Fighting Vipers 2 and heard a LOUD CRACK without realizing it. Apprently some guy in Taiwan makes them but I'll have to look into it more.
Oh sorry bud, I didn't see the "2" you mean the Dreamcast. Do you happen to mean these cases? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-x-Genui...s_VideoGameAccessories_JN&hash=item2c546247cb
To be honest I doubt that you can find thick clear/white cases. It's more possible with black ones, but even then the structure is most likely a little bit different just because these cases were made in the 90's and there was some noticable evolution since then. We are talking really minor changes here, but you can tell - for instance, look at those early CD cases for PC-Engine games, for instance Sapphire (because it's so well documented). The white part of the Sapphire box has rounded edges and a smooth surface. You can't just swap it with a new white case (well you could, but then I wouldn't buy it any more). @hexigon No, he means those cases that are 12mm instead of about 10.4mm thick. For Dreamcast this would be stuff like Jet Set Radio, Virtual On or Berzerk and on the Saturn it's stuff like Street Fighter Zero 2, Batsugun and Soccer Clob o Tsukurou!.
Huh... I never realized the Japanese DC cases were slightly thicker than regular jewel cases. Some of them are, anyway. I noticed Street Fighter Zero 2 (Saturn) has a thick case, too.
Ah right! Hmm, I never noticed them. Would any music CD from Japan use them? Maybe you might be able to grab a used music for 90c or alike.
I remember importing the japanese version of doa 2 and seeing how the case was thicker. Let a friend barrow it, scratched up the disc, but then another friend barrowed it and put this big gash on the front of the case. Needless to say I was pissed. I think these cases were just meant for thicker manuals instead of having to go the double cd case route. But I would of loved to track these down.
Unfortunately you guys may be right. It does seem japanese cases in particular go missing for certain types of games. I've got Gradius Gaiden with good condition manual and even spine card, yet no case or inserts. What the heck?
I would be interested as well, but if its shipped from Japan, I'd rather just buy some shit game and strip it of its case
