I recently got Thief 3, so Thief is on my mind. I did a little internet research (googled "Thief 4") about thief 4, and it seems that everything is a year old post about possible teasers or rumors. It doesn't go much further than that. Did the company producing Thief go bankrupt? Is it being picked up by anyone else? Anyone know anything interesting?
Thief 3 was pretty good. What is important Eidos does is that they still make the game have the ability to make your own levels. It was through that a lone that kept the game alive between Thief 2 and THief 1. What Warren Spector was too scrutinized and under-appreciated. My only gripe about Thief 3 that I hope they change in Thief 4 is that for the black jack and knife, I want to not have to wait for my knife to 'get into position' before I can kill or knock an opponent out. Anyone know if they are going to use Unreal3 engine? Eidos has purchased some licenses but the projects are unavailable to me.
I also think the game is far too easy. I just bought 3 a few days ago, and I immediately cranked it up to a minimum of hard. The only thing that truly makes the game "difficult" is whether you know where the special loot is or not. If it weren't for special loot, I would play in extreme. edit: anyone have any screenshots of it, if its in development? I heard rumors of it being in a modern setting.
Cross your fingers, Eidos Montreal has to reveal a new game soon for and old franchise and it can be Thief 4 or a new game of The Legacy of Kain, I suppose. http://www.eidosmontreal.com/en/index.html I have Thief II and Thief III and I was looking for the first game here in Spain. This series are very difficult to obtain here because they sold very few units cause of piracy.
You might want to try ebay or TTLG.com THE place for anything Thief or of their old developer: Looking Glass Studios.
