Just bought a dial up modem for GC (DOL-012) for my collection but I wonder if I can have some fun with it. Is there a way to hook it up to a PC like in a PC-DC server? Can I rip stuff using it? In other words, is there any use for it? Thanks!
It... umm.... makes your Gamecube heavier? If you can think of an application where that's of use..... Why would you bother trying to do any of that with a slodem (56kbps) when there's a network adapter (10mbps)?
Yeah but I couldn't find a bba to buy around here :crying: but if there is no purpose for it I'll leave it sealed.
Best to leave it sealed. At least it might be worth something in that state. Other then that nothing you can really do with it.
I have one of these knocking around boxed somewhere. If it's sealed I'd definitely keep it that way. Did any games actually support it?
I know i got the broadband modem +pso to load games and other tools. maybe the same for the dail up modem but much slower......? at those speeds i guess you could manage memory cards from your pc....?
Yeah but not many, the only online games that the gc had were Phantasy star online in its various versions, homeland & i think one of the pawafuru pro baseball games. And that was it lol.
Exactly my thoughts. There's nothing homebrew wise that even remotely supports this. Pack it away that's all the use you'll get out of it.
The save game idea is pretty neat for me actually, but I doubt there is an app for though. Guess I'll have to leave it sealed then.
I call myself an owner of one of these dust-catchers as well. Bought it brand-new in Japan for 5$. Never opened the box, never will. And that's what it does: catching dust. I wonder if there will be a time when I sell them off, these unnecessary stupid accessories that I own The broadband adaptor and it's unofficial support of LAN-hacking (actual online gaming) was great at its time. Well, it ran only at about 10 frames/second, but that made it only even more exciting to play Mario Kart and 1080 Avalanche. I still remember when a race on MKD was decided within the last 20 metres before the finish line (waluigi arena) by a double drift-boost, performed within miliseconds due to the extremely low framerate. You also could play gamecube iso files through the BBA by using a cable to the PC and Phantasy Star Online as a boot software - with more or less acceptable results.
I Actualy rememeber playin PSO on the Gamecube with the Modem Adapter.. it was fun, but i played the DC version MUCH more..
