Think my DC laser gave up the ghost..

    One word.. Gutted :( Was fine a few month ago, then set it up last night for a few games and it won't read a thing.. can't complain tho i guess at the end of the day, had it eons :)

    Mine is getting weak too, why I'm planning to SDmod the system soon.

    Never had a problem with it in all these years apart from last night, probably easier just to grab myself another DC.. cheap as chips these days so not so bad :)

    Did you try to clean the lens? Maybe it's just dirty.

    The one I use for CDs gave up on GD Roms, but it still mostly works and it's insides are rusted from sitting in a Flea Market.

    Sounds like you may need a new laser put into it.

    Tried cleaning the lens and still the same unfortunately tho, definitely the laser gone as it don't play gd-rom or cd-rom.. can hear it struggle as it tries to read either media.

    Did you try turning up the potentometer? It's not a perfect solution, but you can squeeze some more life out of the DC.

    I didn't bother messing with potontometer, my luck lately gone to shit ;) probably end up burning my discs hehee.. i'll just grab another DC or laser, whichever comes first i guess :)

    If you're willing to try, I've heard (this showed up on my search) that you can put a computer CD laser in a Dreamcast. Obviously it'll only play burned or CD games, but it'll do something.
