I have a few months left in the military and i was thinking about taking a job in Japan ( at one of the military bases) Any Yanks in here make the transition? I have lived in S. Korea and i LOVED that but i dont want to go back there, N Korea kinda gives me the creeps. The DMZ is a fukked place to visit. Any way, if you have any ideas that might help let me know.
You may want to read this book....it's pretty good at covering just about every aspect of what it takes to prepare, move and live in Japan legally as well as some ideas for jobs or businesses you could start.
It's a little different going in the military. I assume you'll be living on base, which is like living in little America, and you can take excursions into Tokyo. It really depends on where you're going to be. Yokosuka and Yokota (not sure what form of military you're in) are both relatively far from the city in whitey terms, but not by Japanese terms. Hour and a half each way I'd say. If you can live abroad, I'd say go for it. It's REALLY hard to do shit like that once you're settled down and married.
well i wont be in the military anymore, just working for the US government, and i would live in town, when i was in korea i got a little place for me and the wife off post
