    Hi there,

I'm getting really tired of using a CRT for my retro systems. I can't stand the never ending battle with geometry issues and frankly, it would be nice to play these old games on my couch in front of my 40" LED.

I was thinking of buying a Framemeister and getting some RGB cables to go with it. I'll start with the 5 retro systems I own that are already RGB ready (SNES, SMS, Gen+32X, PS1, Sat) and eventually mod my AV Famicom and PCE Duo. Before doing so, I do have some questions for which I hope someone with experience with the Framemeister can answer (I'm in Canada and all of my systems are either North American or Japanese):

1- I know that you can't mix Japanese SCART and European SCART, but what about using SCART switchers like the European Bandridge 5 way SCART splitter? If I use this, will I need to buy a modded Framemeister RGB cable for European SCART or can I still use the Japanese one that came with it? What about the cables for the systems, will I need to buy Japanese or European ones if I use such a switcher?

2- I'm guessing that if I want Stereo sound with my Genesis 1 + 32X combo via SCART, that I'll need to buy a modded stereo 32X patch cable, right?

3- Here's a quick schematic I did using icons from this forum (colors and models can vary from picture), can anyone find anything that could go wrong with this setup?

    Thank you for your time

The xrgb mini is a great little gadget, makes consoles look nice and crisp on modern screens!

Do you have consoles that have both euro and Japan SCART cables? If not, then it's a simple case of either using the cable it comes with (if using Japanese SCART) or buying a replacement one suited to euro scart. Should work fine with a switcher, in fact, using a switcher might solve the signal acquisition delay that the xrgb mini has when directly connected.

If I may make a suggestion, I would recommend you get a sync combiner, like the Kenzei or Toro from beharbros, to use with the Dreamcast instead of VGA to Component. It creates an unusual 480p 31khz RGBS signal but the Framemeister is one of the very few things that can handle this strange signal. The high-pass filter on the RGB in is much better than the D-terminal (component) input.

EDIT: Also forgot to mention, that you can run your PS3's HDMI signal into the Framemeister as well if you wanna save a HDMI port on your TV. You can also run the media PC into the Framemeister too, since it has 2 HDMI inputs.

$80 is a lot of money just for the little difference this will probably make for the Dreamcast.

    A few minor things.
I don't believe there is a component input. It has composite.
If you are connecting both composite and s-video, then there is no room for two separate audio inputs
Why not RGB mod your N64?
For mine I went with all european scart cables ordered on ebay from retrocables (or something like that) located in Florida. Pretty good quality. Also with a euro to framemeister cable. PS2 slim will also do scart...

You can have component via a D-Terminal input.

It has D-terminal (D5 1080p) input, which is basically a Japanese TV input that is component. You can get D-Terminal to Component adapters here:

    http://solarisjapan.com/products/d-terminal-to-component-adapter-cable-female

Also, if you want to use Dreamcast 480p (VGA) to Framemeister, you can also just build a sync combiner circuit.
