That is class. I hate the PS2 bitches. They are the most prevalent, and act like Sony is a cock for "letting" MGS go to the Xbox. Uh...I guess they didn't know Metal Gear was originally for the NES? And that the Final Fantasy games were for the NES and SNES? Fucktards. :smt067

well over the past few months I have become agitated mostly by the anti-PS2 "fanboys" if you can call it that. Among the people who consider themselves "hardcore" (not pointing fingers at anybody) it appears to have become hip to bash the PS2, and place the Gamecube on some high pedestal. Personally I think the GC suffers from a dearth of software in general, fighting games, arcade ports and has too much - and I know I am gonna get bashed for this - typical Nintendo games. I do *not* dislike nintendo games, but a bit more variation is in order, I think. I do not have a Gamecube and do not plan on getting one, simply because I do not feel terribly inclined to play Smash Bros, that Luigi game, Mario Sunshine, Pikmin, Zelda or the like. I am more interested in Japanese 3rd party offerings, which are more numerous on PS2. Same for Xbox.
However, I do not go about bashing the GC or Xbox for those reasons.

  8. Hear hear! Absolutely right! I must say owning a Gamecube has opened my eyes to the excellent library of titles available for the system, however, it also painfully illustrates the lack of certain genres and the machine's definate standing as a "Nintendo system" (lest I be forced to use the "k" word).
Looking each week at the amazing import releases on NCSX, I see that the majority of them are on the PS2, and they can hardly be classified all as GTA-esque ribbish. The PS2 has the majority of third-party support right now, and a great deal of it comes from quality titles. At this point in the game, hating the PS2 is nearly synonymous with hating videogames, as that's what garners the majority of current releases, and if you refuse to own one, you're definately missing out on a lot of quality titles that get lost below the hyped ones.

Yes, anti-PS2 fanboys piss me off too. Still, it cannot be denied that Sony's main market, in the US, is casual gamers who buy 3-4 games a year, which generally are Hyped Game X, Hyped Game Y, Hyped Game Z, and Madden. So this year, it was GTA: SA, Ratchet and Clank up your arsenal, Jak III, and Madden 2005. Or something like that.

I think a lot of Ninty/Sega fans are mad at Sony, because they kicked them to the curb. Well, they had better marketing, and that's what happens.

TBH, I get pissed off by "old school" fanboys a lot. They are the type who hates everything this gen, and will only play "t3h rarest" of the imports etc.

Another thing, I hate most import games. Too much crappy anime shite coming out. Same problem we have over here with Mary Kate and Ashley, and Mickey Mouse. :smt067

Am I the only one here who doesn't really care? :smt043

Games Companies are in the business to make money, so ofcourse they are going to try and churn out games that will sell to the most people (The only exception being Nintendo Europe....who don't like releasing any games, but thats another story altogether :smt042 ).

Only thing that gets me is the way prices stay too high at local Gamestores. I mean, just today I saw my local GAME selling some PS1 games with broken cases at a "Specially marked Down" price of £8 each. £8? Most of the games barely had any sort of case...almost none of them even have the covers or mannuals.

Or the fact that they sell Second hand GBA games at £3-5 cheaper than firsthand ones...no matter what the box/mannual condition is. Oh, and the most annoying change is marking up the prices of PS1 pre-owned games.

<sarcasm>Resident Evil 1 (Platinum re-release) with no mannual for £12 hmm...That sounds like such a GREAT deal </sarcasm>

Einbebop: I can't understand why you'd hate import games. It must be a positive thing that you're able to play games you'd otherwise be unable to?

On the topic of the oft-debated console wars:
That about sums it up for me.

No, I don't really care. Unless that is, someone starts screaming/talking about it. Gets annoying. :smt043

I said I hate most import games. Probably hate is the wrong word. More like "have no interest in." I like any game that is good, but I don't like the people who think it is the shit only because it's from Japan. :smt067

For example, the Dreamcast has many imports I am interested in, and many US games for the system originated from Japan. However, a lot of stuff from Japan is anime/hentai or other stuff that I don't really like. ;-)

Hentai is nasty. My friend was "kind" enough to send me his stash... :smt009

Indeed, in most gamestores in Japan the section of Saturn and DC dating sims (with their extrapolations) were about as big as *all* the other sections together :-(

Wha? Not to offend, but your comment really gives off a lack of familiarity with the import scene - there are simply too many import games that are sheer genius and quality - and the majority having nothign to do with anime licenses - to pass off import games as mostly ' crappy anime shite.' Hentai makes up an insignificant amount of consoel imports, ESPECIALLY when hentai game ports more often than not have the hentai removed.

Furthermore, the import market, even for North Americans, does not merely mean Japan any more. There are many Euro exclsuives - 'crappy anime shite' not having anything to do with them.

Even for the beloved console of many Westerners, the XBOX, there are exclusives from Japan that won't see release here that have been deemed superb and not to miss, such as Phantom Dust. This coming from a console that often has a smaller release list than the DC and PSone.

The vast majority if import games are hardly anime-related - and for that matter since when has being anime-related or licensed had any bearing whatsoever on a game's quality?

For that matter, I'd say the absolute worst anime-related travesty of a game released in recent memory was in NORTH AMERICA, with the re-release of the hideous DragonBall Z game for the PSone.

Meanwhile in Japan such anime-related games are released that are instant cream-of-the-crop material - Naruto, Sakura Taisen, Astro Boy.

'Mostly crappy anime shite'? I think not.

Well, no. Aside form its boards gamefaqs is a very helpful resource, if only for reviews. I was just pointing out a particularly hilarious one.
