Toys 'R Us. Wii and PS3 preorder. There were fucking people camping out just to get it. I went in not 5 minutes after it opened, and the fuckers were ALREADY booked. I'm sorry, but that is just rediculous to camp out just to get a damn preorder.

EDIT: I forgot to say why was so pissed. Some guy managed to preorder 5 Wii's without the clerks saying anything to him.

Heh, I preordered FFXII a few months ago and tomorrow Gamestop is going to stay open till midnight and sell it. I mainly want to go right then to see if I could get one of the deluxe editions.

I don't see anyone camping for it, but I know some annoying FF fanboys who will be in there going "OMG THIS WILL BE THE BEST GAEM EVAR" from High school. In all seriousness, though, I think it will be one of the better ones. It reminds me of FFIX.

BTW, how many preorders did they have? This is another reason why I won't buy a new console at launch. Too nerve wracking.

They said 20 for Wii and 4 for PS3. You can tell that many of the people who preordered it got multiples to resell (Assholes, I hate when they do that). There was about 5 people camping total, and 3 waiting in their cars.

I would have thought they would put a limit on those consoles per customer / household.

So 8 people got about 3 preorders each? I wonder how much money they'll make.

From what I read, they should of. However, Clarksville is filled with kids who work at places like this who don't give a shit about stuff like that, and let them do whatever. Anywho, from what I could tell, one man got 5 preorders, several of the women who were there got a single preorder, several I never found out how many they got, and the person in front of me wanted a PS3, but couldn't get a preorder. So yeah, there were several that got more then 3.

Wii will be easy to come buy. My work is getting 450 units to sell to employies (i work for a dev studio).

Nintendo also will have a 2nd shipment before the year is out. All this crap is because of the 360. Everybody kept taking more preorders then they could fill and alot of stores got ***t for it.

Also I personaly dont think Wii will make a whole lot off ebay. Ps3 will be the most sought after (like we didnt already know). 360 will probably make a killing with Gears of War this christmas.

    *small worried note*
I might still be camping on sunday for a wii if my work gets too many request. They are not doing 1st come, 1st serve. its insted if they get too many request they will raffle off the chance to buy one. :|

I'm still thinking and hoping I'll just hit the stores early on launch day. I'd be pretty irritated if I can't get one for some reason. I do think it's BS not to limit 1 per customer.

The ads clearly state "one system per person", so I would try to complain to the manager/district manager to see if they will cancel the extra preorders and transfer one to you. It is perfectly within their rights to do so. At least you weren't told that the preorder list was already decided on by the store manager.

Oh, and thanks to Mr. Casual for reminding me to pick up my FF12 CE preorder tomorrow night.

I have to agree with Subbie here. I personally think the Wii is going to be attainable this holiday season (not counting launch day) as long as you show a little dedication. I also don't think the eBay profits are going to be near as high for it compared to the PS3.

This will be my third time camping for a system and I've always gotten a system and have always had the option to get multiple systems this way so let me give a little advice for those that are going to try.

1 Forget places like Best Buy, Toys r Us, or Wal-Mart since that's where everyone goes. Pick a place people won't think of at first like Sears or Sam's Club (Only if you have a business membership to get in early though), or Kmart. My place of choice is Target.

2 If possible check throughout the day to see how the lines are developing. The best time to get there is at closing though I'd definitely get there before midnight. Once the stores that hold midnight raffles end more people will show up at the smaller places. The bare minimum I've seen people show up and still get a system is around 3:30-4:00 a.m. so if you show up at 5:00 a.m. you really don't have a chance.

    3. Cover your bets... If possible you stay at the smaller place and have friends go to the places that are doing the raffles. If you are dealing in cash let them hold the money since they can always show up and give it to you if they don't get one.

    4. Form a plan with the rest of the people there and drive off the competition. After the group gets to about 5 or 6 people tell anyone that drives by that the store manager told you that's how many systems there are that they are all spoken for. Working with the people there is the best way to insure a system.

    5. Respect the order you showed up. If you have a decent bunch of people there then you can sit in your car or go get something to eat and still have a place in line when you come back.

    6. Dress appropriately and bring something to do.

    7. Don't bug the cleaning people and night stockers too much.

I agree with 360 pretty much changing the way pre orders are done.

Though its better this way cause it means there is a confirmed number that states whether or not you will get one when pre ordering.

I myself know that even on launch day the wii wont be impossible to find, it might be sold out the next day, but I know I will be able to get one within 2 or 3 weeks at most for sure if I look hard enough.

Funny you should say people would go to walmart. When the ds came out a walmart nearby me was the only one that had plenty after launch.

But I agree that specialty stroes are the places most people will go. Other then that I wont be bummed if I dont get a wii this holiday since I got plenty of 360 games to choose from that will keep me busy for the time being.

The whole pre-order bullshit is just mass hysteria. You won't die if you dont get it on launch day people, and it WILL come back in stock sooner or later...

Maybe they'll commit suicide if they don't get it? ;) I agree with you though. I want one on launch day. I'm willing to get up early and head over there and wait maybe an hour. I am not willing to camp out in the cold overnight for a damn game system. If I don't get one at the first store I try, I'll try a few others and if that fails I'll have asked when to expect more stock to try again. Camping is excessive. Wouldn't it be easier to mug one of the campers when they are leaving in the morning?

I'll wait and see how good the Wii performs, seeing all those issues with sunlight and stuff.

And the PS3? shit, no way: with sony's recent history of exploding products and how bad the first PS2s were, would you actually pay more for a life threatening device like the PS3?
