The only game that I can think of that stole my money more than mortal kombat and capcom vs xmen is time traveller. If there ever was a kickass gimmick game this was it. 3d, live action dragons lair ftw! I haven't seen one of these since maybe 1994. If I had the money to collect I'd try and get one. It belongs in the "cafe 90s"
We were just reminiscing about this one when we saw that episode of Retro Core that dealt with interactive-movie type games. Not such a bad idea, if this one is part of a collection or something...
You can buy a dvd version of this game from digital leisure. Same game just in 2D. I'm a huge laserdisc game fan but this one really blew. Terrible gamepay, story, and acting. Hate to ruin the nostalgia but I think if you play it now your opinion will change.
The Digital Leisure DVD version of Time Traveler is pretty bad. There's terrible lag between making your move and the action appearing on screen, making the whole experience sluggish and hugely frustrating. I can still remember the first time I saw Time Traveler in an arcade – it blew my mind! I was only a kid at the time, though, and my parents wouldn't give me £1 to play it. I still resent them for that.
I think this is a terrible idea. The arcade game was sorta cool because it kind of passed as a holographic arena. Just having the game in 3D would not be the same effect and frankly, it is a fairly short game anyway that relied on a few memorzied patterns.
