    Fifty Dollars?

Gotta raid the Black market this sunday. I've seen many of these type of multicarts - and I can get them for like 2 dollars each.

Not the Konami one, though. Never seen that one ever.

    that's the point. multi-carts are 10 a penny. this one's quirky though.

Looks like the original sellers of this cart were lazy and used an NES Konami cartridge to house the cart. Dime-a-dozen, I'd say.

    <EDIT>
Upon closer inspection, I noticed the sticker also says Konami :) Pretty quirky.

no worries. pirates make some of the craziest things.

    for instance
there's a place close to my home, where they sell a famiclone called Modern Mate (atleast they did until a short while ago) - it was a joystick/megadrive/famiclone combo. thing is it didn't work and the geezer at the shop was always on a back foot about selling it. I'm sure I could pick it up, and I'd have loved it if it did work, as I've never come across such a bizzare/wonderful peice of trash (heh..) and unlikely to again:

I've mentioned it before, but I can't help thinking how crazy it is. Argentina is full of famiclones (and megadrive clones - also some snes/sfc clones - even got a pcengine clone once) but never one like that.

In future either dont link live auctions or stick it on the ebay auctions thread.

  9. If you look at the screenshots in the auction, it just has all the stadard pirtate multicart stuff like Super Mario Bros. and "Galaza". It doesn't look like it really has anything to do with Konami aside from the label. And it's already on hacks by the second page of the menu, so it probably doesn't have very many unique games.

Has anyone here ever seen the Kunio-kun 12-in-1 pirate cart, though? *THAT* would be incredibly cool to have, in my opinion.

WHOA! That Modern Mate, thing, now THAT's interesting.

The Konami thing... I guess I wasn't surprised of the usage of the actual logo. I've seen pirates by "Nintendo Electronic Company" in the past (though not in the last five years or so). And then, there's the Konami Songtly, or some similar name, famiclone.
The shape, though, is one of the common "bigger" Nes-Clone cartridges. Not as common as those with an "L" Shaped "handle" like thing for pulling the cart out, but common.

Still, I wasn't saying it's not a good find - these are harder to come by every day. But I really wouldn't pay fifty bucks for it- I'm sure you can get it for a couple of dollars if you're lucky enough to find it.

It's more about the thrill of finding it than the actual value.

    agreed 100%

there's a plethora of possible reasons as to how the logo came to be placed on the cart. the description the seller puts is hilarious.

I apologise for the link btw. if necessary I will take it down. please let me know as its no big deal.

Simply because people complain they cant start their own threads for auctions they are selling.

So if we allow people to post live auctions just to talk about something then we are gonna get people starting threads to talk about "that item on ebay for sale now". You can always wait till the auctions over or even just steal the pics and post on thread :)

  16. I definately agree there - I had no idea there was a Kunio-kun specific pirate cart, but the idea interests me far more than any of your generic pirate hacks, save for stuff like Somari or the Super Mario World on Famicom.
Any idea what games were on the cart, or what it looks like?

  17. The Kunio thing is a Famicom cart, not an NES cart. The one I saw was black and had two rows of pictures with a bunch of kanji and "12-in-1" on the label. I saw it on eBay and tried to do some research into it to make sure it was legit (well, not "legit" legit since it's obviously pirate, but I wanted to make sure it was really Kunio games on there). I was able to find a ROM dump that wouldn't work in any emulator I tried it in and a couple references to the cartridge, but no firm info, though the references I did find to it made it sound like really did contain a bunch of Kunio games. However I don't think there's even 12 Kunio games on the Famicom, so either it has some hacks or repeats or maybe some non-Kunio games (some Double Dragon games would be cool, thought it probably has "Galaza").

As I recall the auction went for somewhere around $100, which isn't really too bad considering, but was way too much for my taste.

Anyway, it definitely seems like a cool cartridge. But personally, I'm even more interested in the pirate original games like the ones you mentioned. Somari kind of sucks, but the Famicom Super Mario World is really impressive despite its bugs. There's also some really impressive pirate Famicom versions of the Donkey Kong Country games. I even have a pirate original of The Lion King which is actually better than the official Famicom port of The Lion King. Even a couple of the fighters seem to be pretty good, though most of them are horribly bad. I've played a Samurai Spirits pirate that's pretty good. Those pirates definitely managed to do some pretty cool original stuff on the Famicom, though it was probably always way more crap than interesting stuff, but that's the way the NES library is generally anyway.

I remember 7-in-1 and 8-in-1 Kunio carts, never seen a 12-in-1, there are 11 Kunio games for Famicom and just about all of them are 2mbit. The cartridge itself came in many forms since no two bootlegger is alike, often however they will reuse eachother's artwork.

I don't have a cart so I can't say for sure which games are on it and screenshots would only reveal the games to be named "Kunio 1, Kunio 2, Kunio Samurai" etc BS since bootleggers don't understand Japanese. Games that could be on it:

Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-Kun (not likely since this is an UNROM cartridge)
Nekketsu Koukou Dodgeball (definately on it, must be hacked for MMC3)
Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari (definately on all of them)
Nekketsu Koukou Soccer (definately on all of them)
    Downtown Nekketsu Kousinkyoko
Downtown Nekketsu Jidaigekidayo (definately on all of them)
    Nekketsu ShinKiroku
    IkeIke! Nekketsu Hockey
Nekketsu Kakutou Densetsu (definately on all of them)
Kunio Kun no Nekketsu Soccer Leage
Nekketsu! Street Basket - Ganbare Dunk Heroes

Most likely, only the MMC3 games are on it bar one or two of the later ones.
