I've spilt coffee, dropped, triped over, taken apart and many other things to my 9/9/99 dreamcast and I have never had one problem with it. :drinkers:

  2. Well thanks for the help everyone, sorry for sounding a little cranky last night, but like I said, I'm really not looking forward to getting a new DC. :smt009

I think I'll take it apart tonight, give it a good cleaning, and see where that gets me. I'll even double-check the solder bits, although I think that if that were the problem with the door, it would be VERY odd, as the operation was performed about 6 months ago. Then again, with my solder jobs.. :smt043

I still have no idea what is wrong with that Dino Crisis disc though... maybe I'll just bring it into town today and try to trade it off to one of the stupid overpriced independent gameshops here. :-D

God dammit. All this talk about dead consoles sort of brought a jinx to my collection.

My "custom built home theatre system" burnt and irremediably died.

To those curious, it was a 1985 model Toshiba Stereo with 4 speaker output, connected to my TV- Aux Stereo cable. (I know, the EDGE of technological advance... It even had a Vinyl deck)

That's what I get for not knowing how to help GreatSaintLouis repair his Dreamcast . Sorry for being such an ass, dude.

Down here, they repair consoles for the equivalent of five dollars. Wish there was a black market everywhere...

In the USA the black market is known as a Flea Market.

Anyway, GSL. I am sorry to here that. Try EBgames.com to see if they still have some DC consoles in stock for $20!! I doubt it though. Check the pawnshops and flea markets.

No cheap dreamcast down here, unfortunately.

Cheapest I can find one would be around eighty dollars, which is way above twenty.

Even if I did find one, I live like 20,000 miles away.

If I see something interesting this week, though, I will inform you.

    Good luck.

It aint. You can get CK perfume marked down from $85 for $5. Or Tommy Hilfiger shoes/clothing for cheap. Granted they are fake. I remember one shop there that also sold boot legged DVDs and video games behind the curtain.

    This is nothing new.
I've had 2 DC systems that have developed disc-read issues over time (though easily fixed).
Had Sega supported the DC for another 2 years, I'd venture a guess and say that DC owners would be all over the DC's shoddy workmanship just like they are over the PS2 and it's infamous Disc Read errors.
