From Google: They even have separate courses, and are usually part of separate colleges in univerities. Just sayin'...
I totally agree. I was just curious about the economical situation in USA, too bad people has to make that political.
Personally I think it's too bad that a forum that has so many "adult" posters have to act like intolerant jackasses. But, anyhoo, yeah. The world is pretty fucked right now across the board (economically). Some more than others, obviously, though. Japan's been on a nice steady decline for like 20 years. They redefine depressing!
Republicans believe he crossed the white lines. just kidding I like informed economic analysis actually, would like to see some people's views when they actually know their shit.
Tell me we didn't all know where that thread was going - frankly, I don't think you can expect to have a meaningful discussion of America's economic situation without the conversation becoming about politics as well. If I actually wanted to talk about the economic situation in America (not particularly!) I'd do so in the unmoderated/free speech threads, since the conversation will inevitably slide. I'm not saying I agree with the rules, but they're pretty plain at this point.
It is extremely difficult to seperate politics and economics yes. I'd say nearly impossible to discuss economics without at least toeing the line of politics as well. The people who make decisions that directly affect the economy are politicians, corporations or someone with enough sway such as a terrorist. Even then corporations have political reasons for a lot of their economic decisions and if you were to tell me that terrorists don't ever have a political slant I'd have to take you for an idiot.
I don't think it's so hard... at least not why we got there. I'm not bi-partisan to say the least, but even I wouldn't blame any administration. It's pretty clear what got us here: greed (and a serious lack of risk analysis). Bubble just got too big and "poof". How we're handling it does get a little politicial, but it's a sticky situation as it's a massive clean up. To boot, I work in finance although I'm no financier. So technically, I'm probably one of the bad guys, although the business I'm in doesn't loan money, and in fact has no customers.
Economics and politics are pretty much intertwined on an international/national/state-province-regional level. While they're both independent of each other, they're both dependent on each other.
So... The statistics I showed in that other thread, are they accurate in your opinion? Are there other relevant statistics about USA you want to mention? I'm only interested in American state economy, I think I've got a good grasp of the European. (Atleast the states I care about.)
Most of us will have fun, have a lot of sex with a number of people, fall in love, get drunk, sing bad karaoke and play a few games on the way too, although maybe not in that order.
I would rather just see an unmoderated forum for topics like these. The unmoderated thread is nice but the problem is that since everyone has to use it you can't really have a good conversation/debate before the flow is broken by someone wanting to talk about another topic. Put it somewhere to keep new posters from causing problems and let established members have a decent conversation.
Yeah. I agree in moderation, but I don't agree in letting a few ass clowns ruin it for the rest of us. It's a sad state of affairs (like the economy....badump tssssh!). Well... I've not read anything optimistic in ages. I don't exactly follow the stuff, but man, every time I go to the US it's pretty fucking gloomy.
The economy in the U.S. is pretty awful. Food and gas prices are sky rocketing, unemployment is at around 9% last I checked, MediCare/MediCaid/Social Security are elephants in the room just waiting to bring the whole house down, we're fighting pointless wars that cost us trillions, and to make matters worse, and some idiots are pushing banks to do sub-prime mortgages again (you know, the catalyst for all the fun we're having now). So... yeah, we're pretty bad off. And it doesn't look like things will be getting any better anytime soon.
