No big deal really. Tanks are perfectly legal to own here as well if the cannon is decommissioned. You don't see it much in the US though because the Government refuses to sell anything like that anymore and the red tape to get foreign tanks in is a pain it the ass. If you think that is cool then check this out. The Russian state arms corporation is selling off a large quantity of vintage WWII items including captured German Tiger and Panther tanks. http://www.rusarm.ru/pages_firm/media/arkhiv_04/pr_107.htm
Damn.... how fun would it be to go off roading in one of these? Plus no more traffic on the freeways.
Not too strange - I know places where I can go pick up Chieftain's for £15,000 in the UK, my mission in life to buy 1
The UK seems to be the place to get surplus military vehicles. Odd when you consider it is the same place that wants to ban airsoft.
When you consider that tanksare only a fraction of the surplus compared to jeeps, vans, trucks and plant though and to top it off they're bastardised so they will never fire again it changes things Croatia/Czechoslovakia etc are the best places for military hardware IMO, can pick yourself up some TEL's, Tanks and Bradley's np.
The Warsaw Pact countries are a goldmine for toys like this. Especially Czechoslovakia like you mentioned. I lot of people over here are snatching up their old warbirds much to the disliking of the both FAA and BATF since a couple of times they've shown up "Fully Loaded". Our government won't sell anything good anymore. They'll scrap them before they sell it. The only way we can get any newer surplus US planes, tanks ,ect is by re-importing them from countries that our government gave/sold the stuff to. Is that asinine or what?
Speak of surplus military vehicles, check this place out: Helicopters and everything! I bet you could retire early if you sold that stuff on eBay! And, no, I won't tell you where all that is - it's mine, all mine! :smt043
Think that's impressive, Check out the USAF boneyard in Tucson Arizona. http://www.dm.af.mil/amarc/aerial_gallery.html
Bradly's? You sure? I thought they were only in use by the US... and do they come with the 25mm chaingun? :smt043
Yeah, i'm pretty sure that's Chernobyl too. Bradleys were used by other countries too. On a sidenote...has anybody seen "The Pentagon Wars," the TV movie about the development of the Bradley? It's quite good.
Sorry, but owning a tank seems kind of...pointless. Unless you are a mechanical genious and you make it into a mech or something, then that would be cool!
