I dug a perfectly good working Sega CDX sitting right on top of a large garbage bin full of tree clippings, while strolling home from school through an alley one day.
Happened to a friend of mine. His parents threw out all of his GameCube stuff. Bunch of games and the console. I've never understood doing that versus at least trying to sell it. I guess people don't get the secondhand value of some video games.
Earlier this year I threw away 40+ PS2 sports games, all FIFA and PES multiples after swaping some of the cases for my good games with worn out cases. I ended up with these after buying job lots. I could not give them away, used games shops wont even take them for a penny because they know these games will take up shelf space for 6 months them be dumped. It's a waste of time selling them on ebay, after fees, tax's, postage & packing you'll be lucky to get 5p (£0.05) each for them.
i now understand what this smiley means. > :cocksure: (just looked like a doped up expression, not an arrogant face.) ... you better get DOXXING me then, looking forward to 'real' company. ... in another thread, it was asked 'what's your shit worth' and i responded, 'mine? NOTHING!' (a bit more to the point than that really) it still stands...sadly. the only way to get a fair price is online sales, taking the risk. (academic for everybody in that arena) local/regional visits can help, but either party doesn't know what they're stumbling into, bravery both sides. last, and definitely least, is the badwill/pawn shops. they pay pennies then hike it up. ... the only thing left is peace of mind and self-respect. i fear homelessness, been too close and had to ditch items out onto the street before, i have NO regrets, and i care NOT for a judgement, i'm NOT a 'gamer' (what a disgusting and typical LOW common denominator) that term has lost ALL value, i just play/collect them, that is all there. the time WILL come when i have to let my stash go, the general faceless public gets it in the end... so technically, it's NOT wasted, only redistributed. (can't see anybody in sound mind smashing up a FREE game trip-up, same as finding a blind wad of ca$h no id attached. anybody passes that up, i call em liars) the stresses of selling stuff nowadays is unreal for many, i got full moneys worth, so...?!?! ... age is creeping up, don't have family to speak of, so that makes things REAL simple in the end! :smile-new: ... to that post who really said it as it is, THANK YOU! (the pokemon games) i KNOW that feeling, if it doesn't go, something else will... ... to be clear, not as if i get pleasure out of dumping stuff, when chips are down, life and limb are all that's left! [edit] correction: castlevania games, safety!
Amiga m8 you need to control that a bit. Perhaps type and then come back to it a few minutes later eh? I'm trying to work with this as I love your enthusiasm. You need to get a handle on this
Well that's sports games, I can understand that. But why do people throw away consoles and really good games.
Mostly the same reason anyone throws anything out. You can use simpler examples than throwing away things like games an extrapolate from there. Here is a simple example. A lot of times when I go out to eat with certain people, they will buy a drink that can be refilled & just throw it away when we are done eating. I always refill it & take it along while they are stopping at a liquor store on the way back to get a soda just a bit later. People put different values on things. One man's hobbies /collectibles (games) is just another man's trash/waste of space. Or they just become a burden, too cheap to go through the hassle of selling, so just dump em.
I didn't really have to go through the trash, luckily it was perched right on the very top of a large bin full of tree trimmings in plain sight just begging to be rescued..
