Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ray:ray:ray:ray:ray:ray:ray:ray:ray: http://kotaku.com/5023224/a-decade-later-we-get-new-thunder-force-game And it's on PS2, a Dreamcast release was an extremely long shot!!! Finally the wait is almost over, let's hope it's great!!! Already on pre-order at Play-Asia http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-r-49-en-15-thunder+force+6-70-2vzc.html - Published and developed by Sega - Out in Japan in October - PS2 - Directed by Tez Okada (SGGG, Astro Boy GBA) - Many of the stages and bosses are a mix or remix from throughout the series - 3D horizontal shooter Some shoped screenshots Really looks sweet!!! Nice rework of the TF3 Hydra boss, hope this one is harder to kill though!!! Will need to track down a Jap PS2 at some point!!! Really exciting day, indeed. New patapon annoucement looks really boring compared to this.
I think in my case it's too much excitement, I have been waiting for a Tecnosoft revival for years. I spent a lot of my childhood and teenage years playing Tecnosoft games and Thunder Force means a lot. Even my dad (who's not a big VG fan) was hooked to Devil Crash MD ( developed by Naxat but ported to MD by tecnosoft) and he's still holding the highest score in the family. :banghead: So come on TecnoSoft make us play again with these rocky starlight musics!!!
Cant wait to see what this looks like, been a long time since they released the last... Definitely my fav shooter back in the day!
What, on the F*ing shitty PS2. FUCK! I won't be playing this then. Still, it will probably get an upgraded Wii port if we're lucky. yakumo
Don't fret man. See, personally, I loved Thunder Force III/AC/IV because the classic Tecno Soft team made it, not because they had Thunder Force in the title and a number after them. And this isn't being made by Tecno Soft, not even the Tecno Soft that made Thunder Force V (as the core team that made all the classic 16-bit stuff up to Hyper Duel left and formed CAProductions (http://www.caproduction.co.jp). At best this will be like Thunder Force V and will just be another non-classic Tecno Soft evolution of the series. At worst it will be nothing more than a cheap imitation (see: Panzer Dragoon Orta). It might be worth a raised eyebrow if CAProductions was making it... but otherwise, its just Sega screwing with another classic franchise. Interestingly enough Yakumo, the real Tecno Soft team of great went on to make Bulk Slash and Sapphire for the PC-Engine CD. Go fig eh?
Because Sony sold 130 Million of the unit, I guess if Tecnosoft is reforming they are not going through a big IPO so capital will be limited as a result current gen dev kit is a no go due to cost of hardware and licensing. If SEGA is developing then considering their situation, PS2 is a cheap safe bet and they know the platform very well.
Nota fan of Sapphire because I've never seen it running but I found Bulk Slash to be a very good game one you got past the control system. I'd love them to make a follow up to that rather than all this mario crap they're doing these days. yakumo
I know, I would have prefered a 360 or PS3 release too, but hey at least the PS2 is able to churn some decent graphics (Gradius V), it could have been a DS release lol (I like the DS BTW) and a PSP release could be easily done, I'm playing TFV on my PSP and it's fantastic!!! But overall it's more of a royalty/budget issue more than anything else me think.
Tecno Soft isn't reforming... nobody that made the originals (or TFV for that matter) is working on this...
Yeah you're absolutely right but I have a 40G Pal PS3, so for me it's a no go, even if I had BC you still have the ridiculous region blocking on PS1 and PS2 games :banghead:
Here's why I think it's being made for PS2... Import Friendly. Techno Soft knows foringers are going to want this game and since the Wii isn't import Friendly nor the 360 and the PS3 is too expensive to develop for they made it for PS2 which can easily be import enabled. They just weren't sure if it'd get a relase stateside so they took steps to make it available to the most people possible.
Put you toys back in the pram and accept that Sony won and that the PS2 was a great machine for shooters. Any shooter is going to sell better on the PS2 then any other format. The PS2 is ultra cheap now, so why don't you just swallow your pride and buy one.
You know I don't think the PS2 will ever die Games will be made for PS2 until Jesus returns to buy a console......and he will buy a dreamcast...and it will be good and Jesus said unto his people Buy a dreamcast and by my will more games shall be made for it. That nonsense aside. I did a write up last week about how the PS2 is the new NEO GEO. I'm going to once I get my bearings do one about how the PS2 is also a Sega system.
