Thunder Force VI

I'm thinking about getting this game. I'm not really a big Thunder Force fan (I've never played one to be honest) but I'm a shooter fan in general and I hear it's a good series.

So, has anyone here played it? Is it any good?

 

I think I played one of the Thunder Force games on Saturn and another on Genesis. They were solid shooters from what I remember. They have a good reputation. I've heard of people importing Thunderforce VI for PS2 because they wanted to play it so badly so I'd imagine it's a good game and being a fan of shooters you should appreciate it. But I haven't played it myself.

 

Played it a bit, and didn't like it very much, maybe because I expected something like Gradius V or R-Type Final, but its more like a "revamped" version of the V with things taken from other chapters of the series. You can see a review here:

I'd have to agree. Still worth importing though, but to me, personally, it is like TF V but with better graphics and improved gameplay. I'm not a hardcore schmup player, but for novices, this is a very friendly, yet challenging TF game.

 

the German M!Games magazine rated the game with approx. 60%

 

Hm... that's not very reassuring. Perhaps I won't get it.

 

Not worth 60 bucks from play-asia then?

Just got Söldner-X: Himmelsstürmer from PSN for $10. 1080p and very nice for the money.

 

I'm inclined to agree. As a budget title I'd get it but on import it's a no for me. Sega did a nice job nonetheless on such a tight budget.
