Does anyone here in the US (or probably also overseas) remember a "mysteries" show concerning an episode on Thunderbirds (Rare gigantic birds)? I recall watching that episode years ago, and it has always stuck in the back of my head. Like a few months or so before watching that episode, I was out alone near my school playground and I looked up and saw a large bird up high in the sky. It must've had a 10 foot or higher wingspan! I was terrified, of course, but once I told my story I was struck with responses that it was an eagle. They're probably right, now that I think about it. Later on, I watched an episode of some mysteries show about gigantic birds, AKA Thunderbirds. They were known to have a 20 foot and higher wingspan, and were said to be rare living ancestors of condors. Also on the show, there were interviews of witnesses who encountered the gigantic bird in South America, Mexico, and one in Indiana in the US. There was also a video clip in the episode (I hope it wasn't edited) of a researcher up in the Amazon and recorded 2 of the large birds flying off a branch over 400 meters away. The clip looked real to me! Does anyone here remember that episode? think they have seen gigantic birds with their own eyes? or am I just going crazy? Here's the only Google picture I could find that was also in the episode I watched (Thanks to Ford Motor Company for taking up all of the Thunderbird pics OH: ): Source: http://www.unexplained-mysteries.com/gallery/displaycomments.php?pos=-150
My guess would be that it's largely speculation that the bird exists since the photo shown is very undetailed and is merely a bird's outline that someone cut out. I vaguely remember that "mysteries" episode myself, but do not recollect the images or information about thnderbirds. Sorry I can't be more help and good luck in your quest for the Thunderbird.
Yeah, thanks for the great link there! I was looking for the cowboys story, but the orignal site is long-gone, or hidden. I also made a mistake, and the case in the US was in Illionis like stated at Wikipedia (I guess they are good afterall). Now, does anybody remember the episode?
I would love to see that episode, since cryptozoology is something that intrigues me alot. And by the way Homo floresiensis is real, and not a midget version of Homo Sapiens.
"Thunderbirds" are gigantic birds from various Native American legends, and there's various rock paintings of them in the south west, as well as numerous examples in artifacts, artwork, etc. If I remember right there are reports of people seeing them back in the 1800's, carrying off cattle and such. They occasionally feature them on those "Unexplained Mysteries" type shows on the Discovery channel (the same shows where they talk about bigfoot, the loch ness monster, and the chupacabra, which exists by the way. I saw it.) I think there is a photo on the net somewhere of these men in civil war attire, standing over a dead petradon. But that photo could be fake.
A couple of months ago there was a Coast to Coast show dedicated to Thunderbirds. Very interesting stuff to say the least.
I know about the chupacabra, well I have seen lots of good documentaries from Discovery. and the chupacabra were among the aliens and other stuff in the documentary .
All I can think of when i hear thunderbirds is the Gerry Anderson TV program...I got all excited when I clicked this thread, just to find out that it was about birds!
