Patience! I've acquired about 10 different development items through ebay. I've set up saved searches for common terms ("PS2 tool", "development", etc) and ebay sends me new listings every day. I still miss some stuff, so I'll manually search every once and a while. There's plenty of stuff on ebay posted by people that don't know better and put BINs for 5x more than things are worth (for example, a PS1 debugging station. They're always on ebay for BIN of $500, but they're hardly worth more than $100). And of course keep an eye out on the forums here. I've picked up a few items by being quick on a new topic. That's honestly about the only way you can get most hardware without having an "in" with a company one way or another.

eBay saved searches are easy. Just enter your term and hit search. Beside the number of search results, you'll see a link to save your search. You can narrow the search using the column on the left. eBay will send you an email whenever new results come up. afaik, you can save as many searches as you need.
