Yep, sure was. I remember buying it with the way too expensive ($70!) Shadows Of The Empire...because at the time I was completely obsessed with Star Wars, and had already played the living crap out of Mario 64 at a friends place the year before. Anyway, sorry, didn't mean to give you guys my life story.
There were three Toys R Us exclusive N64's in the US. The first was packaged with a single gold controller: There was also the edition with two gold controllers and the Pikachu Nintendo 64 Set (called the Pokemon Pikachu N64 everywhere else). Sayin999 mentioned a controller that was a prize in a contest. I think he's thinking of the silver Millennium 2000 controller, which was a prize in Ninetndo Power. I'm lucky enough to own one:
Thanks. According to Nintendo Power there were 1000. I've got a scan of the competition advertisment here: http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y70/alxbly/Web/Millenium2000.jpg Now I'm trying to track down the Nintendo Power 100th issue anniversary N64 controller. It's basically a gold controller with the Nintendo Power logo above the Nintendo logo. I think there were 100 of them (which would seem to make sense) but haven't been able to confirm it.
There was indeed a Titanium N64 controller. Unfortuantely it was just a color. I believe it was made by InterAct. http://cgi.ebay.com/Gold-Controler-...0104655458QQcategoryZ3580QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem That's an auction for one of the controllers InterAct made and yes there was a Gold version as well. The "solid gold" n64 controller thing was just a myth. There was a special limited edition gold controller that you could buy from a catalog that you recieved with teh 100th issue of Nintendo Power. Then that one was marketed as the "limited edition gold" controller as seen in the pictures throughout this thread.
