Ok whats worse is the fact that people have no trust or decent manners.

The last 20 mins was a perfect example. I have two shitsus that are very friendly and I walk them regularly on a field near to me. They are very energetic and like to run up to anybody they see.

I took them out before it got too dark and just after I entered the field I let them off the leash to run about as they just strangle themselves otherwise.

We bumped into the usual walkers and most were pleased to see them or had the courtesy to put up with them until I got them back.

However my immediate next door neighbour came into the field for a run just as we were getting to the horse gate. He never speaks to me and recently filled an official complaint with the council against me because I wash my car on my drive with a sponge, bucket and a simple slow garden hose.

Anyway they chased after him, the more he ran the further they went, barking at his heels, I shouted repeadetly 'excuse me could you stop for one second as they will continue to follow you'....nothing, even when he first entered the field and was a meter away he just looked at me blankly.

So in the last 20 mins I have ran about half a mile because some ignorant old fucker wouldn't acknowledge me because of some un-discussed one sided fued he's had with me since the day I moved in 6 months ago.

My youngest shitsu has joint damage in one knee and is now limping terribly because he can't help but follow the other one wherever he goes. That dick head has exceeded his exercise limit.
I don't play loud music, don't damage property, have friends round at silly hours, or keep my garden in bad shape...

The whole street has a bad attitude towards me, and I think its because Im young and choose to live in a quiet retired area. I bet this wouldn't be like this 20 years ago.

I have to say, if your dogs won't come to heal when you call them, they shouldn't be off the lead in a public area. That is my opinion. Not everyone likes dogs running up to them and some people are actually quite scared of them.

I've owned dogs in the past and know the joy of seeing them play and run riot around an empty field, but if people were around I'd put him back on the lead until the field was empty again.

Of course, the beef you have with your neighbour makes it all a little skewed, but in this instance I don't really consider he was in the wrong. He was just out for a run.

Agreed, if they won't return to you, get one of those really long retractable leads, if they nipped at his heel once he could have had them destroyed as a "danger to public", it's just not worth the risk.

One thing that really pisses me off about dog owners, is the complete lack of understanding that small children are frightened of dogs pouncing on them and licking their face. We went over a friends house once and they have a red setter, and the thing dived on my son and started licking him, he, naturally freaked out, they go "aaaaw he's only saying hello!" which didn't inspire any confidence in my two year old at all. And they just let the fucking thing dive on him every 10 seconds despite my polite suggestion that the dog fuck off because it was upsetting him.

It's cute to you, not to children that don't have a pet dog and know what is going on.

    Plus dogs stink... ;P

I don't need to be told about my responsibilities as a dog owner, however this case is different to the norm. In my self contained hamlet, only the residents of the area ever use that field under permission of the farmer who owns it, so it is always the same people and if someone appears who is not recognised, the dogs are leashed.
