Loaded down with otaku flesh I imagine!

Let's hope the walkways hold as well.

I hate escalators. I never go on them, I think I have a phobia. I do hope all the popular Japanese multi-floor shops have stairs as well, gulp!:crying:

Hmm, they have stairs around the back but in the main shop it's all escalators or lifts.

I hate escalators, I don't know but when I get in one it always seems like it's going down and I'm gonna die painfully if I ever use one.

Still, I have no choice but using them. :\

I'm still not sure how 60 people came tumbling down just b/c the things stopped. I assumed it was one person with bad balance and the domino effect. I couldn't resist the sarcastic title though.

hehehe, yes. I saw them all falling down tonight on the news. Looked quite strange since I've never seen anything like this before. The footage was from a security camera but actually pretty good quality.

Amazing how technology means everything is recorded.

I present a video, of the actual event.

The escalator stopped, then REVERSED suddenly making a big pile of
    people at the bottom.

I'm 188 cm, 78 kg, and the Japan's doctors say I'm over weight.

Last time I rode an elevator it was just as easy to get off at the bottom as it was at the top. I guess it only takes like 2-3 deer in the headlights to screw everything up though.

the video they showed on TV was much better. That actually showed the action from the beginning :)

Talking about being fat, I'm 180cm and weigh 83kg. Yeah, a bit fat I know but one Japanese doctor said he was surprised I hadn't had a heart attack due to my weight. WTF is all I could think. Being 83kg at 180cm is not what I'd call dangerously over weight.

He would not have understood, but you should've asked him what else he got out of a box of cracker jacks besides his medical degree. I think the average image of health in Japan is vastly skewed. My host mother 10 years ago (fuck... it was actually 12) kept tell me her food was healthy... as she deep fried it. All the mean while the men sit at their desks for 12 hours on end either doing fuck all, or some menial work. Take smoke breaks out the ass, drink, then ride a crowded train home and are in close contact with about 2000 other people. Don't get me going on noise pollution.

I'm not saying Westerners (definitely not Americans) are any better but they are at least conscience of their unhealthiness for the most part.

To put this into perspective, I had to get a physical for our insurance years ago. One of my bosses who ran the Iron Man some years ago and is still in way better shape than most people half his age, was told he was overweight. This is a guy who could go run 10 miles cold on any given day. I honestly think he laughed at the doctor.

Yep, Japanese doctors look like they know it all when in fact they just memorise a set "plan" that is suited for all. Yeah, right.

The fact that Japanese think boiling the shit out of vegetables is still a healthy way to eat them is beyond imagination. All the goodness has gone in to the water. Also how can drinking that greasy shit they call soup from ramen be delicious?

lol soooo much teh true!! ..those japanese doctors often forget (or may be never knew) about some body constructions of a caucasian are just different compared to an asian one. one of the biggest differences is the whole skeleton, which may vary up to 1.5x in weight due to thicker bones and stuff.
also it seems, that they do not much differentiate if your overweight is due to pure fat or also due to muscles.
the most funny thing is also, that they care such about your weight, but about all the other 278'938 healthy risks in the daily japanese environment they not even lose one word.

I am fine, I didn't go to this but I will be at Comiket next week and I will be wary of fat Otaku and won't be standing behind them on a escalator. :D
