Hopefully this may be of interest to some of you as Tomb Raider is joked about in most forums. :110: When I bought Tomb Raider 3 in November of 1998 I was disappointed to find that at least half of the media I had seen of the game had been scrapped. Sifting through the screenshots I still have, you can see some of the many levels that were cut or altered. This screenshot for instance features reflection mapping on the water which is not in the final game. It seems to be an early version of "Madubu Gorge". Some more shots. My anticipation for the game was so high that I even recorded an Australian TV show which ran a feature on the game. I've uploaded the video here: http://www52.zippyshare.com/v/42153159/file.html The video is especially interesting because it shows a level which is unlike anything in the game and it appears to be extremely buggy! So buggy in fact that at one point Lara tries to surface in the water but elevates above the water and begins to fly around the room! Another possibility is that this is merely a debug mode in action. One has to wonder why Eidos would choose to use such footage to promote the game. I would be so happy if this beta turned up one day.
I don't think thats reflection mapping, it's just the models for the waterfalls has not been clipped at the waters surface, so it is running underneath it.
I fixed the link above after finding a backup copy of the video. As a bonus I've uploaded an old IGN E3 video of the TR3 Alpha here: http://www13.zippyshare.com/v/24651320/file.html
