Anyone know if there's any sort of information on a Dreamcast version of THPS3?

Wikipedia claims that it was cancelled. I assume that it was canned because the Dreamcast wasn't doing so well at the time, but why would they cancel it for the Dreamcast when they were supporting even older consoles like the Nintendo 64 and Gameboy Color?

Come to think of it, it seems that they reached their hands out to every platform except the Dreamcast. It's a shame, too. It probably would have looked great on it. :/

Yes much better than ps1 they had Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 on the ps1 werid.
Dreamcast was the best at the time.

It was released on 10-28-2001. So the Dreamcast was more than a half year dead. No publisher would invest in a official dead console.

PSX, N64, GBC... were never out of business. It would make sense (and profit) to port it on those.

Yeah, I'm a bit surprised that they released 4 on the PS1. By then, the technology was just too limited. Still cool that they supported the system as long as they did, though.

The PlayStation versions were the only ones out on that date. The N64 version didn't come until August of 2002... Long after the flow of N64 games stopped.

Yeah, the N64 release of THPS3 is the aberration, really. It was the last N64 game released in the US.

I think the second one got ported to iOS recently. It also got a re-release on the Xbox back in the day (US-only I think).

thps 2 64 was even cancelled in 2000 (it was planned for fall of that year), when they decided to focus on psx and dreamcast, however the changed the ideia, possibly because sega decided to stop manufacturing the console, and the 64 have a 3x larger base.

I know this is an old thread, but as a huge THPS and DC fan I would love to see something surface about this. Has anything been discovered? Once again sorry for the late bump.

If it was on wikipedia then it was probably fake or just a news in some magazine.

This reminds me of the rumoured port of Hitman Codename 47, I tought it was for Dremcast, then I remembered that it was for the PSX.

Actually the THPS3 Dreamcast WAS fake, as well as the hitman rumor.
There was a guy who edited a ton of Wikipedia articles and added many articles to the "Cancelled Dreamcast Games" category, which sparked all of those rumors.
At a time, Sly Cooper, Spyro enter the dragoncrap... erm, I mean dragonfly, and Silent Hill 2 were all part of that rumor, but obviously, Sly is a sony owned IP so that would never of happened, and Silent Hill 2 was built originally with the PS2 in mind (It was ported to Xbox and PC later due to the unexpected success. Also, Spyro ETDF was in development for PS2, Xbox, PC and GC so its possible, but the Xbox and PC ports were canned when the game flopped.).

But there was a rumour indeed of Hitman for Playstation in Gamekult, it was in 2001, but obviously this did never happen, and months later Hitman 2 was announced.
