Actually it's not the TOOL that I'm having any actual issues with, it's more the installation of Linux 6.2 locking up at install, I heard Linux 6.2 will not work on Xeon processors, I'm running an Octo 2.8 MacPro and Linux 6.2 under VMWare, but the install refuses to go passed some hardware identifier screen then a dark blank screen. Cent OS 5.2 is like 7 iso's, ANYONE know how to mount 7 iso's to VMWare to install??? I know I'm asking quite a bit, but I do love you one and all, no homo.

    - Thanks

There is no Linux 6.2, according to kernel.org the latest stable kernel is 2.6.34.1
Which distribution are you talking about?

If you're off network just use something older and more comfortable.

I assuming red hat 6.2 you need to use the right kernel-2.6.18-92.el5.src.rpm for it to work with the TOOL.

    seriously?
if you're really aiming to run the dev pc in ancient redhat 6.2, why not vmware?

Yeah man, I actually been trying to run it off VMWare off my MacPro, but seems there's known issues on Xeon architecture.

    somehow misread- lol

hm.. odd- i run dd's of the actual tool installs (tool's internal drive) on my macbook pro under vmware with no issues- what model macpro do you have? you might need to setup a feature mask-

I have an xserve at home i can test it on if you're running one of the mac pros before last year's model.

    Red Hat 6.2 under VMware

So Red Hat 6.2 doesn't support anything Pentium 4 or above which is why it fails when you try and install it under VMware. You can get around this with the process that was posted here:

    http://www.lxpro.com/vmware/readme.txt

It's pretty much a pain to do the process but the gentleman who documented was nice enough to build a vm image you can torrent. The torrent is really slow but there is an alternative.

    http://osvirtual.net/en/rh62/

The above website has a preconfigured vm image and its a much faster download.

The only issue is that the image was built under VMware Workstation 6.5 and the VMware tools installed may not be compatible with more modern VMware versions. On my VMware Fusion install X refuses to work, but I haven't tried to fix it yet. Isn't really a big deal just something to note.

    Hope that helps.

Why not installing on the Mac itself?

If I understood correctly, you are trying to install the ps2 SDK on VMware with Red Hat 6.2, aren't you? Instead of that, have you tried installing it in the mac partition? Just uncompress the tool chain (tc_xxx.tgz) and libraries (tlib_xxx.tgz) under your mac's /usr/local directory and add /usr/local/sce/bin /usr/local/sce/ee/gcc/bin and /usr/local/sce/iop/gcc/bin to your PATH. The sdk reference recommends Red Hat, but any *nix that uses libc6 should work. Give it a shot.

By the way, I use fedora 11 on my computer and it talks perfecly to the TOOL.

I don't have a TOOL yet, but I don't think installing the PS2 SDK on Mac OS X for x86 will work simply because Mac OS X's Darwin kernel uses a proprietary Mach-0 object file format, whereas Linux uses ELF.

Right on, you guys rock! Got my TOOL off and running off it's own monitor and the Linux OS in it's master hd, now, booting to DVD, I'm going through all the documentations and it's all very very scientific.
