Shiiiiiit, forgot to download that one, I was so busy on Sunday! Ahh!!! Will be back tonight with comments if any. (must... refrain... from watching youtube...)
Was a good episode -- liked the further Schumacker ref Ending was a bit weird imo, were they only saying goodnight to the supercar, or to the viewers aswell?! Wasn't very reassuring! Massive TG fan, would break my heart if they quit!
On the one hand, I never want this show to end. However, one day it is bound to do so, and I would be dissapointed if it was not as good as that. http://transmission.blogs.topgear.com/2009/08/03/the-end-of-top-gear/ Regardless, goodnight.
I think that if/when this show ends you'll see all 3 presenters either A)going out with a bang in 3 really fast cars doing what they do best or B)they will be in 3 really comfortable cars on some amazing road going for a drive without any silly behavior, racing each other...etc almost like this seasons ending. I don't really see top gear ending at least within the next few years but either when it does or even before it ends i'd love to see a boxset of every top gear episode ever made from the current format because i don't remember the 1st series that much before they got James may in and before it was as sucessful as it is today.
now that hessmo is down where do you international viewers see this? i neeed a good stream from somewhere :crying:
To be honest, I thought that they used that silly 'travelling through various landscapes' bluescreen nonsense a bit too much.
Honestly I think the ending was really saying that because of whats going on in the world, cars like that are going to no longer be made. Hell look at the Lamborghini that Hammond was driving in episode 2 of this season, he mentioned that they are going to discontinue it. Also I think the segment was really sort of poking fun at those car commercials that present a car as the ultimate thing. I wont lie though when I did see it I thought that maybe Clarkson was hinting the show would eventually demise due to whats going on in the world. From viewing this season, I must say it wasn't exactly as strong as last season. But I have a feeling that what happened was the budget cut occurred halfway filming this season. If you notice this season the shows go at a faster pace and there are not as many high jinks as previous seasons. However towards the end it was back to basics. All in all can not wait for season 14.
You know what was insane, at comic con bbc america had a booth and they didn't have any top gear stuff!!!! Almost everyone who went to the booth was asking for top gear stuff!!!
Yeah, I thought the ending was really straight forward. In fact, it was stated by Clarkson in his piece to camera regarding the state of the world / economy / oil reserves / march of environmental issues etc. He was simply saying that a V12 engine and similar massive power horses are unlikely to remain either ethically acceptable, en vogue or even possible in the new political landscape. The one thing that viewers may not have realised was the use of landscape to make another point. It was in those valleys, dips and hills that the industrial age was born. Streams and small rivers drove the first industrialization and eventually the mechanization grew beyond those valleys into large cities and the rest of the World. Those landscapes returned to their natural state as the industrial age dwindled. Hard to even find a trace of their importance these days. It was making the point of the passing of another mechanical age. It also happened to coincide with the last episode of the series. Period! Good Night! (That does not mean I am not coming back!)
