I just purchased a nice and complete top loading NES...THEN I read a random article on how the top-loading NES suffers from some "ghosting pixel" problem. Is this true? I'm aware that for some odd reason Nintendo got rid of the composite hook-up and left us with only the RF signal (*shudders*). Can anyone who has one of these units confrim or deny that the pic is somehow worse that the original NES units? Did I just screw myself by not just buying the original version??
I have an AV Famicom which hasn't any video problems at all, not even the vertical line problem plaguing RF Famicoms. I would assume that the "top loader" and the AV Famicom are the same unit despite the AV path/RF modulator present in the "top loader" I don't really know what ghosting pixels even means but I don't think I have them
Yes, the image quality is worse than the old toaster NES, even if one compares both units' RF outputs. I don't have a toploader, but I have had the problem explained to me by a very knowledgeable guy about the whole problem. The Toploader has vertical lines going down the screen every 8 pixels when the PPU fetches tile data. I don't know if it's the absolute verdict, but I was told that there's not much you can do to fix this problem. This, and the fact that it was RF only, always made me wonder why people wanted the toploading NES so much anyway.
This should be enough of an arguement: RF = crap Composite = not so crap So if you have the choice, which video output would you rather have? Your solution... well you could do this mod
The US toploader is RF only? wtf is that about? I really, really, REALLY wish I hadn't sold my AV Famicom and SFC Jr.... Unprecedented level of sellers remorse, lol.
Would that be the same link I posted yesterday, in fact over 24 hours before you posted it? *rolls eyes*
That is obvious, and it is an easy and honest mistake to make. Any of us could. However, the rest of us would say - oops! sorry mate, and share in the light-hearded comment that I made... NOT insult me. That wasn't very friendly now, was it? Are you by any chance from a certain board aimed at one particular brand of console/arcade games? :smt083 (that, by the way, was a joke... and not at your expense, at another board's)
Well, I'm sorry retr0, but your post didnt appear (to me) to be the most polite either, and in fact it a bit arrogant. I'm sure that wasn't the intention though, but keep the peace, yo
It seems raising dead threads and adding pointless comments is a good way of raising your post count. Not that I'm implying that's what's happened here of course...
