I have been reading some stuff on the GP2X and want to buy one, problem is I noticed a new one came out F200 with touchscreen and multitasking as extra options above the F100 but also came across people complaining about the f200 as there were some issue's with sound and drivers (problem is that the f200 has not been out that long so there is not much info around)

Anyway I now am torned between buying the old one that has been picked up by the community and now has good homebrew and whatnot support or the F200 for the touchscreen/multitasking but less? compatibility or other known problems?

So can anybody here with experiance on both versions give me some pro's and con's on both devices or any other information that would be useful from others?

Basically buying it for Emulators and Movies, but I don't want to end up with an instable machine and have to wait for the community to support it, if so id rather go for the old one now and buy the 200 at a later stage.

I'm waiting for the Craiginator to come out.

Doesn't the GP2X have awful battery life and is expensive, considering its low tech?

It seems, also who in their right mind would implement double AA batteries nowadays ? :p these are things that irritate me especially because I own the cheap chinese JXD 301 (bigger screen, good batt life and rechargable) but on the other hand instable/buggy and not open source and missing quite some apps/emu's so thats why I am looking for another machine while my JXD will be sold.

I read so much about that craiginator, but I am unable to find concrete specs/pix and release dates, so for now I am not hunting for a ghosts.. when it comes ill consider it.

I have the F100 and love it to bits, get a pair of decent rechargeable AA's and you're all set.

I had a F100 for quite a while and it was a decent little machine. The battery issue really wasn't that bad what pissed me off about it and why I ended up getting rid of mine was the screen viewing angle. I just never really liked the color or the angle that I could get out of the screen even with major adjustments.

The F200 doesn't suffer from this issue as the touch screen has a much better viewing angle angle and color, at least on the unit I used.

The "Craiginator" is supposed to surface sometime next year and it looks very promising. There is a huge thread about it on the gp32x forums that will give you much more info about it.

I ended up getting rid of my F100 because of the screen and because my PSP just started getting used more and more and I just really liked it much more. With Picodrive out for it now and MAME updated the GP2X just was used less and less. If you can try one out before you get it.
