Playing around with a FMV-TOWNS and wanting to see about installing Towns OS. I run Marty games fine on it, but would like to mess with the OS. Is there a site out there that has information on all releases of of the OS? I'm coming up with nothing.

    Thanks all!

Well Towns OS is quite simple, basically you have 1.1 and 2.1 and that's all you basically need. There are various revisions of 2.1 but depending on your hardware you may not be able to run the higher revisions.

If you are feeling perverse you can get a version of Windows 3.0 & 3.1 which will run Windows 3.x programs. If you have enough RAM (ie at least 16MB) and a hard drive and you feel like going mad then you could run Windows 95 (goes up to OSR1), there is a version of Direct X too so you could run early Windows 95 games. You can't run MS-DOS based PC games although text based MS-DOS programs can work (for example the Japanese based LHA compresser program will work raw on a PC, DOS/V, PC-98x1 or FM Towns DOS, which is surprisingly handy)

If you have the FMVTW models of the Towns then you have a nice low end Pentium which will run Win 95 smoothly.

Yeah its the SH20 model with a Pent 200. I have 95 already on it, just really wanted to try out TownsOS. Thanks for the version numbers, I'll see if I can find a copy.
