I've managed to aquire a Toyota branded Game Boy. It hasn't arrived in the post yet, hence no photos, but I'm curious if anybody can shed any light on it. Google brings up very little apart from the fact that it exsists and most sources claim it's a Game Boy Pocket. However, this one I have purchased is an original Game Boy. Seems that it was given away with new Toyota vehciles in Japan in 1992. Any additional information would be appriciated. I assume it's pretty rare given the lack of easy to find information.
Sounds interesting, can't wait to see pictures! http://ninthandold.over-blog.com/ar...yota-the-only-one-you-can-drive-51652855.html There's a picture right there of one. It's all in French though so unless anyone can translate, no more info, yet.
Here is a rare model of Game Boy pocket, since it is a promo-commercial version distributed exclusively in Japan in the late 90s, to a limited number of customers of the Toyota car company. This model obviously very popular with collectors, we see very rarely go on sale. I had the chance to acquire it through a member of the forum "Limited Edition". A dedicated box "Toyota" is, but unfortunately I do not have.
That exists? Also, I wish the Gameboy had more than just that tiny Toyota logo, was hoping for a unique color. (just noticed that you said yours wasn't a gameboy pocket version, so it prolly wont be see-through.) & NonShinyGoose, your avatar is the cutest picture of Sonic I've ever seen! :love2:
For some reason I was expecting it to be bright red with a toyota logo slapped right in the middle...
http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/korea/appendix-consoles.htm There's also a Samsung Saturn and the Hyundai GameBoy/NES (Comboy & Mini Comboy).
That's better than the Toyota Dreamcast. All that one had was a sticker. At least this one has "Toyota" actually printed on the device.
He's here! I asked the seller if they could remember where it came from. Their reply was "Japan". It also came with a few games, a mixture of Japanese and US carts. I doubt it was sold/given away in this case.
Gotta admit, when I first saw this topic, I thought it'd actually be made by Toyota, like all those consoles made by other manufacturers: Hi-Saturn, V-Saturn, Panasonic Q etc.
Quite a curious little item isn't it. Because of the way they were given out with Toyota vehicles, I doubt many of them even have their boxes still.
That's pretty cool, but I think I like the GB Pocket one more. Whereas the logo on the original GB looks like it was just smacked on there, the GB Pocket one seems to sort of fit the design of the device. The GB Pocket is also a lot more playable (and pocketable) than the original GB. That said, I'd love to own either of them.
