Well looks like there is a trailer for the American top gear, and just as I predicted it fails to capture the chemistry the original has. It's even shot very cheaply compared to the original that has great cinematography and great camera angles. If they try to emulate the UK show exactly they will fail and it will suck. If they keep the spirit of the original though while also doing their own thing then they might have a shot.
they don't look like they can drive at all. Hamster can drive, as can Captain slow, needless to speak of clarkson. I predict someone will die.
The cinematography and camera angles are from the BBC quality. Anyway, why make a show with the same name? It won't help it, since everybody will compare it to the original. And Top Gear is great because of Jezza, Hamster and Cap. Slow.
It's similar but not exact cinematography wise. What I am afraid of is they got the hell kitchen route and make it more trashy and corny. To be honest though history has a decent track record. I am just shocked bbc america didn't push the orignal that hard. I crack up that they are advertising that they are showing unseen episodes (ie last season before this one) and saying they are rewarding their viewers who were willing to wait and not pirate the episodes off the internet. I just wish they didn't call it top gear. The orignal of course is perfect cause of the original three, they have amazing chemistry and they know how to drive and critique. Too bad Adam corolla couldn't be in the show cause of his commitment to a pilot, it would of made it better since he has good knowledge on cars.
This is what Leno should have done instead of helping to screw Conan. He would probably have been happier and his reputation would be better off.
Hahaha, too true. The presenters are your typical American stereotypes. Loud mouth "dude", red neck looking type and boring sod. There doesn't seem to be any connection between them. Still, this is only a small taster so we'll have to see what the show will be like.
Looks interesting but not sure how well it will actually be? What they need to do is take the basic's that make's top gear fun and adapt it so that it doesn't just feel like they've just copied Top Gear and then tried to make it american because it wouldn't work just copying the show straight up. Also Jezza, Hamster and Captain Slow do make the show what it is because in some segments they get on very well and have a good connection but then in challenges they can also not get on because they are competing against each other.
Leno ewwww. Though I will give him credit that he said the american version can't work for various reasons(ie car sponsors). Though he had the nerve to be on to gear and rip them off two weeks later in the worst way possible.
I think the trailer looks pretty good. As long as they don't try to be exactly the same as the original but with Americans then it could be good.
