Hey. Found this link for the Tremcast. Avalible to people in UK for 129.99 Would fit nice in my car... http://www.gbax.com/new/retro.html peace out ;-)
Cool. Treamcasts are well smart. Out of interest, does anyone know if the Treamcast has a modem expansion socket and is compatible with the BBA? Why? So I can have an all-in-one unit running Linux, connected to the network as a Snoozebox jobbie. Or use for Linux based internet exploring.
cool! Anyone know if these things are multi region... if not, i asume they are Jap. I love the fact they come with the saturn-like pads. Does anyone here have one? Be intresting to know what the build quality is like. )
US Dreamcasts are the cheapest around, even Japanese ones cost at least twice the price. We can get used refurbrished ones now for US$20 so its only natural for Treamcasts to use the cheapest parts.
According to what I have read (but dont quote me on it) the Treamcast is multi region out of the box.
Sure its multi region if you're playing backups Also if I were to hunt around, I could find a huge lot of "broken" Dreamcasts with blown fuses (on their controller board?) for next to nothing. The controller problem is so big that most likely Treamcast makers bought them in that condition as well.
I know quite a few places have been selling them pre modded for multi-region, but im sure they were originally sold NTSC only. http://modtown.co.uk/mt/article2.php?id=treamcast http://www.lik-sang.com/news.php?artc=2963
I have one here ... like Tachikoma said, its a US Dreamcast, and only US discs can be played without bootdisk ... from what I have heard, they bought a huge stock of US dreamcast and converted them, which actually means take the mainboard without modifications, so the quality of the dreamcast is like any other DC out there, the rest of course is pretty cheap ... (drive door, LCD etc.) it DOES have a cover over the modem port, however it does NOT come with a modem (to few space), but you should be able to use a BBA as well as a normal modem with it !
Treamcast They are multiregion out of the box. They are NTSC J. They have the port for a BBA. However its not deep enough so you would need to take teh BBA out of the case so it would fit into the maple slot. They are pretty cool. The screen is surprisingly sharp, and doesnt blur much when playing fast 3d games. Also you can make em portable by pluging in a Gamecube rechargable powerpack. It last for about 3 - 4 hours. £129 is a good price
no, they just know how to write their name on the bag :butthead: the companies name is Treamcast, the portable DC is called TREAMACAST (I dont have a picture handy, but thats the products name which is printed on the small lable below the LCD screen ...)
no problem, I just tried to be a smartass, as nobody seems to know its actually a treamacast ;-) (not something to pick up girls with, but still something to win bets with :smt023 ) oh, here's another (better ?) picture of the back: http://media.lik-sang.com/content/portabledc/large/portdcconnec.jpg
The same company also made Para Para Paradise for the Dreamcast. Complete Rip off of the Konami game. Very cool indeed :smt033 Yakumo
I remember getting (what I thought was) a nifty translucent purple VMU case made by Treamcast via Lik Sang a few years back, and the damn thing wouldn't fit over the innards of one of my official VMUs!! :smt076
