I'm going to travel during one week in the german's city : Munich. How is the weather there ? And how is the german poeple ? thanks
German people like everyone that likes beer. So just drink some beer and you'll be fine. But german people do not like drunk people. So never drink too much. Also never refuse any drink you get offered. And if a German says something stupid, just smile at them. And don't chase after any girls, they are all equiped with pepper spray. If you do manage to evade the pepper spray and the girl actually spends the evening with you, you are expected to pay for everything the girl eats or drinks for the rest of the day. Also the next morning you should get up early and make breakfast. The weather is warm when the sun shines, but cold when it doesn't. So pack a t-shirt for walking in the sun, a zip hoodie for the rest of the day and a water proof jacket for the evening, because it can rain. Oh and cars drive on the right and they drive fast so always look to the left and right before crossing a street. Be carefull if the street has 6 lanes it's an autobahn and you should not walk across it. And on the matter of autobahns. People that drive below 200km/h on an autobahn are considered very bad drivers. So if you rent a car, rent one that says something like BMW or AUDI. Those usually are fast enough. Oh and sarcasm is kinda big in germany.
^^ when i was younger, went to dusseldorf, AWESOME place...at the time. (went with f****y, did a bunk, had a BLAST!) from an english perspective, GREAT! :smile-new: make top booze, and the locals are VERY friendly, and willing to assist if required. was a long time ago, can't see the mindset changing much...i hope. ... should be in great hands, good choice though. (hoping german nationals can weigh-in here) ... would like to visit dresden before i bite it... weather: moderate.
When are you going? In time for Oktoberfest? Spend as much time as you can at the theresienwiese. All the Germans I met were nice & down to earth. If you think they are a little stiff, the drunker they get, the friendlier they get! :highly_amused:
What country/culture is your home? That will highly influence how you experience the country. Germany is awesome, but depending on what you are used to you may be shocked or surprised by some behaviour. Generally speaking, just have fun visiting remains of the country's rich history in art, architecture and great landscape. Rent a car and go on the autobahn - go up to 200km/h or faster, but you don't have to. Most people only go 100-130 anyways, and the majority of highways does have speedlimits.
Munich isn't representative for the rest of us imho. Bavarians are basically their own people, and Munich is as bavarian as you can get. Been there once, don't feel like going again (and it wasn't even the Oktoberfest...). But have fun if the whole Bier-und-Lederhosen theme park happens to be your thing. Well. These days: right lane = mostly trucks(*), middle lane 130, left lane is a free-for-all. Speed limits exist but usually aren't taken all that seriously. *might be able to go 80-100 here without being too much of an obstacle, if you need a breather.
Abit late for this Munich is great, I stay there for two weeks for beer festival and touring around whole Munich and do activity stuff. Sanni is talking rubbish. Don't listen to him. When you go to beer festival in any massive tent. Make sure you have plenty euro coins for tip like 1 or 2 euro coins after you buy the beers. They like tips. Each beer cost 10 Euro. HB is the better place to have the beer. Food is nice too as they severed chicken. Of course you got theme park aswell. Weather is decent and warm, that is the last l came back from Munich is three weeks ago. Make sure you have plenty cash with you because it is expensive where ever you go in Munich. I buy water bottle alot and it cost 3 euro in most shop. So 3 euros is £2.10 and if you go to restaurants you will have to pay the price for food (obviously) and then tax's (depend on the percentage) aswell and again tips too. It abit bullocks to be honest but hey it is Germany after all. I say it is worth because you will meet all kind of different people from around the world. Not just Germans. Germans are lovely people too and friendly too and you can talk about world war with them and others things aswell. You got Good and bad side in Munich and unfortunately you got all these Turkish people living in the bad side of Munich where the beer festival at. They are not bad people but it ruins the German traditional like streets shops and food, it like you in the different country with crappy streets. You should go up in north of Munich where all the history is and German community are...better shops too. Again... better atmosphere, cleaner and nicer place up there. Avoid in west Munich (I have not been there) because it nothing special in that area unless you are desperate looking for a prostitutes. So avoid in west.
