The guys at the site are known for that infamous "BOOM HEADSHOT" played over and over in Counter Strike Source game servers.

It became synonymous with online FPS games.

    RIP.

Wow, still young. That's a sad loss of a life.

Not wishing to be disparaging, but I find the American driving school system very lax. It seems that you don't get taught enough to be able to get in a car. And I don't understand that you start so young and can drive without a qualified driver. Plus some states don't even require insurance. Perhaps if the whole process of learning and taking a test were more stringent, we would see less tragic fatalities on the roads.

Saying that about youngsters, I believe there's a country in Europe where they start young but things are extremely strict. I think we should certainly be looking at ALL countries' stipulations for getting a licence and their road fatality statistics, and seeing what could be done from day 1 to ensure people drive safely. Of course, you'll always get idiots, but perhaps more could be done.

Around here the stupid paper test is harder then the actual driving test!

Maybe not, but it definitely seems like it. I can drive but I refuse to drive so I dunno.

You know Retro, it seems like it's easy to get a driver's liscence, but they throw enough red tape in your way that many people don't end up getting it until thier early 20s.

For instance, you need (in California at least) two forms of ID, 20 hrs of certified Driving instruction (for those under 18,) and your own vehicle with insurance. Sounds like an easy set of requirements, huh? Well it's not if you don't have people to help you. For instance, they used to offer the drivers training free in public schools, but removed it (the year I needed to take it btw.)

Hmm, interesting. I thought they still offered it free in schools. Well, think yourselves lucky they did - all we ever got was the cycling proficiency test when we were like 8 years old!! hehe.

When you say your own vehicle, what do you mean? Here we can drive our parents' cars, as long as they have us added to their insurance policy. Can you not do that?

The 20 hours of instruction is sensible - that's about what we get here. The difference is that we can't drive until 17 (they were going to put it up to 18 but don't know if they did), and can NEVER drive the car alone. I believe over there there are certain times (e.g. before dark) that you can drive alone. We have to be with a driver who is 21 or over and has had a full licence for 3 years or more. And learner drivers cannot have passengers.

My friend says that in NJ you basically do a written test which gets you a permit to drive with a licensed adult. Then you do a driving test and that's it. Sounds like the standards vary greatly from state to state!

They do. Even within a state, standards can be different. I got my license at the main Department of Licensing in the area where most people go. However, a buddy of mine went to about an hours drive to a more rural licensing place and said it was a lot easier to get his license. The instructors were nicer/easier and the written test wasn't bad at all.
