EDIT: To clarify, RGB SCART cables.

I'm looking to start picking up SCART cables for the many consoles in my collection, so that I can finally get RGB output--however, I've read several stories about fake SCART cables that only output composite video.

Does anyone have a particularly trustworthy source that they get their SCART cables from?

I'd really rather not find out what's safe and what's not for myself.

Well, for which consoles? I can point you to some cables, all of which I've personally bought and verified. But they're UK...:

    SNES - www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151001854763
    PS1 / PS2 - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230434299223
    GC - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151008873809
    MD - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111017978240

This PS1 / PS2 RGB is FAKE, sadly I bought three of them at once. Though judging by the feedback, no-one else could tell the difference:

In any case, just go ahead and buy them, but use eBay. Then, if you get a fake cable, you open a case against the seller for your money back.

The Genesis 2 and PS1 cables are helpful here. I'm assuming those sellers are particularly safe and I can probably trust their other cables, so I'm gonna go ahead and pick up a Genesis 1 cable as well.

Unfortunately, having NTSC consoles, the GC and SNES cables don't help me out, but I do appreciate it.

EDIT: Just realized the PS1 cables don't ship outside of the UK. Haha, oh well.

For SNES NTSC you need a PAL GameCube RGB cable. That's what I use, works great.

IF you are able to you could always have a crack at making your own and use a good quality VGA cable. If you can push your luck with the cable, it may help to use individual and overall screen (ie the colour cores have their own screen and then the outer sheath of the cable is also screened.

Are you going to be using a RGB/component converter? This is what I use and it is bloody fantastic!

I don't have any kind of experience with making my own cables, so I'm doubtful about being handy enough for this.

I'm actually not using an RGB/component converter though, as I'm using a Sony PVM.

Thanks for letting me know about that, Mottzilla. Perhaps I'll pick up that GC cable after all.

Damn, sorry about that. If you're stuck and want to use a UK seller that doesn't ship worldwide just shoot me a PM and we'll sort it out for you (I'll buy whatever it is and forward it on to you). It's no hassle because I sell on eBay myself. Cheers
