    Hey Guys

I'm a bit out of my league with this one... I'm trying to install a virtual machine onto my Windows 7 computer because I need to use some hardware that is not compatible with Windows 7. I have to use XP. I'm trying to follow the instructions but I don't understand part of them. I used Virtual Box to create the new drive, and the next step in the instructions say:

    3. Set the Virtual Machine Storage Controller to the same Storage Controller as your computer has (IDE, SATA, SCSI, SAS, ...)

    and

    4. Add your CD/DVD-ROM drive to the Virtual Machine Storage Controller.

The storage settings in the virtual machine install says "Controller: IDE". But it also shows my partitioned hard drive just below and there are options to choose SATA, SCSI, SAS, and Floppy. I'm assuming I need to choose something, and I'm assuming it's SATA.

The CD-ROM drive is listed just below that and it says "empty." Again there are the 4 choices that I listed above.

Kinda sucks since I'm this far along and I can't go back.... I read the instructions before starting but there are a lot of things that aren't included.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I decided to switch to VMware Player instead....lots easier. Looks like it's working.

    Thanks for the response!
