I remembered yesterday an old car game that was on a Abandonware CD games that I had, but since i've lost this disc and don't remember the name. What I can recall It had an advanced physics damage for the time (think something like BeamNG) It ran on DOS the wheels were sprites I recall that the car was not based on a real model but rather on a cartoony one, it had a blue collor An huge level, not sure if it was even textured Looking back, it even did sound like an unfinished game. Not sure if is info enough, but that's all I can remember.
"Wheels were sprites" implies the rest wasn't, so it had 3D graphics, correct? Anyways, the first "advanced physics damage car game" that comes to mind is Carmageddon but that doesn't start you off with a blue car (and I'd think if you played enough to get other cars you'd remember the name). Somewhat less advanced physics, and not very cartoony setting: the various Destruction Derby titles. Do you remember if it was just driving alone, or "clean" racing, or general mayhem with opponents? Maybe Indy 500?
Nah, Screamer is full 3D isn't it? Also I don't recall being an racing game like that, it definetely had an unifinished feel like Pakoon, but the car was cartoony and the wheels were sprites that looked like the red baron plane wheels. But the damage system was pretty nice for it's time, think about the BeamNG, albeit in a very very low polygon car. Also, not Indy 500 or Grand Prix 1 and 2, not even the With an Vengeance section of Die Hard Trilogy.
Maybe Stunt Driver or Test Drive 3? Untextured probably means no later than 1992, 1993 at best. There's also Vette, Car and Driver and Hard Drivin' off the top of my head.
Nah, it was a third person, probably 94-95, the enviroment was either untextured or had those square textures they use for reference in texturing models. The car was a cartoony one like the original Pakoon, the wheel were sprites, and had a similar format of the Red Baron ones. The destruction system was per vertex/edge like Beam Ng, instead of an pre definied deformation.
The only other two games I can think of that somewhat resemble what you describe would be Big Red Racing and Hi-Octane, but they are probably not it. The thing is, it could very well be a shareware game and you're going to have some tough luck finding it if that's true. You can head on over to Vogons.org, it's a whole community dedicated to mostly DOS gaming, so I'm sure they'll be able to help you there, as many people in the past have asked similar questions and gotten answers!
Indeed it's quite similar to Big Red Racing. I'll try on vogons, thanks EDIT: Yes, got the game at the first reply, it's terep 2. Trivia: the full game was never realased and evolved into 1NSANE
